Weather forecast for Saturdays scrimmage is in the high 30's...........Winter doesn't want to end in Northern IN this year....( So much for the alarmists on Global warning, this years winter has been brutal) Looks like a day on the couch watching the Master's instead! Seems like this was held about a week or two earlier than normal this year.

Not to get in a huge debate not related to football, but if you really think 'Global Warming' is attributed only to the general warming of temperatures...you are vastly under researched and ill-informed. In fact, you are using a term that has been drummed up to create confusion whereas the better term is 'climate change.' Climate change has more to do with the sudden and drastic climatic changes that have occurred abruptly over the last 100 years thanks in large part to the burning of fossil fuels associated with industrialization and urbanization. If you want evidence, look at how weather in central Indiana has become warmer and warmer in to late October/November and colder further in to March than in decades past.

That isn't to say some of this isn't naturally occurring...because it is. However, the problems are being exacerbated by the burning of hydrocarbons and the rapid population growth associated with the end of WWII.

That being said....if it is sunny and isn't windy, I'll wander to the stadium and try to get in to the lower level of the press box to sit in with a nice coffee.

"Climate change has more to do with the sudden and drastic climatic changes that have occurred abruptly over the last 100 years"

Also known as the only 100 year span we recorded this amount of information.

The climate has more to do with the Earth's distance from the sun, the tilt on the axis and surface sun activity than what man is or isn't doing. When all that happened were campfires from the few million people on earth, the climate still changed and we have no idea the year to year variance only long-term generalizations. The earth has been significantly warmer and colder than it currently is and life still survived and thrived. The alarmism associated with the changing climate is more of an issue than any affects man may have in my opinion.

And we all know "CLIMATE SCIENTISTS" would hate to see the over 2 billion in grant money dry up if they were to come out and say that climate is changing and always will by the wonder of nature....that being said...(I am hoping for at least for it to be sunny and in the mid to upper 40's.....praying the local weather men are wrong. The fun for me and the wife is to watch a good hour of scrimmage walk the campus.....then harry's for a couple and talk football with a few patrons.

Just to let you know, I did include what you are saying in my original post:
"That isn't to say some of this isn't naturally occurring...because it is. However, the problems are being exacerbated by the burning of hydrocarbons and the rapid population growth associated with the end of WWII."

I think some people would argue that the “problems” aren’t really problems but rather changes with some downsides but also some upsides, and more importantly that those changes will be gradual enough by our modern sense of time that we will easily adapt and maybe even thrive with the changes coming. Not sure where on the spectrum of doom and gloom I land, but I am certain human resilience and ingenuity will far outpace/outweigh the changes that are inevitable. That said, I certainly don’t want mankind to get crazy and turn our planet into one big Sahara desert, but I don’t believe that is the path we are currently on.
