His upset of Iowas Spencer Lee is like the basketball loss.

one of Purdue wrestlers has one of the biggest upsets in history at NCAA wrestling.

Down 2 points with 40 seconds left, pins Iowa’s Spencer Lee in the semifinals. Lee was a 3-time returning NCAA champ looking for a mythical 4th title and was probably the prohibitive favorite to make the US Olympic team in the future. This is on the same upset scale as Dan Gable losing is last college match after winning 117 straight matches in 1970. Dan became and Olympic champ and coached Iowa to like 20 NCAA championships

This upset would more than balance out Purdue's basketball loss if NCAA wrestling had the same media exposure and fan base that basketball does. Unfortunately, it doesn't (as a big wrestling fan personally, though I think its extremely awesome!)
