Terrible way to end season but no doubt who the better team was

Just a buzzsaw last night that we don't begin to have the guards/wings to match up with when Mason/Graham/Jackson all played as well as they did. Even if 2 of those 3 had good games we'd have had big problems. With all 3 playing well, we stood little chance.

Not going to let the bad end put a damper on the whole year though. Still finished DFF in the Big Ten. Will be looking forward to seeing this team evolve into next season where we will probably have to learn to play quite differently.

I would prefer not to make the tournament, than to get blown out like last night.

It would have been acceptable if they would have played a competitive game.

If it were a competitive game we would've nitpicked on what we should have done differently to win. I've been here long enough to know how this plays out. Short of winning, there is always going to be someone who finds the outcome unacceptable for one reason or another.

While last night was very disappointing, I would never want to miss the tournament just because 1 game ended poorly. Missing the tournament means by definition you had a bad season. Why would I want to trade 4 months of fun just so I don't see my team lose 1 game??

I'd rather just lose the game before - as a 32 point loss on National TV is brutal. That was rape.

That's a different argument. I was responding to the poster that said he would rather not make the tournament at all.

You guys saying you'd have rather not made the tournament or lost a round earlier just because we got blown out last night are fools.

Then I'm a fool as getting embarrassed last night casts such a negative view of the program to the nation. It's little wonder why the top recruits in the state leave.

Yea. It was more embarassing for us this year than it was for Indiana. Real smart.

100% disagree. I enjoyed the ride to the sweet 16, simply because we haven't been there in 7 years. That's like the people who ridiculed the Buffalo Bills for losing 4 straight Superbowls. Didn't see any other AFC team step up those years, and only 3 BIG teams got to this round.

My expectation is that we get to this level on a consistent basis (2 to 3 out of 4 years) and get go farther every 5 to 8 years. I don't EVER want to not make the tournament.

Ok let's see who gets it fixed first. IU is not satisfied where they are and Purdue is content because we can't do any better.

Lol, for real? We got beat by a 4x McD's All-American squad with the NPOY in their back yard after getting gassed by three games in eight days in which the opponents matched up to our weaknesses and exploited them as much as possible.

I much prefer this to taking a road game against GT and losing in the first round of the NIT.

Comparison only makes sense if we were in the same place. Now let's see.....

We won the conference.
We swept IU.
We made the S16.

They had a losing conference record.
They missed the tournament.

Yea I can see why they are more upset than we are and more motivated to make a change. Last year when IU won the conference and made the S16 we weren't hearing cries for IU to fire him so this whole notion that them getting rid of Crean is proof of this higher standard is complete nonsense.

All true. The difference is, Purdue would NEVER fire a coach 1 year removed from a B1G title and S16 appearance. And I'm fine with that.

I've never understood statements like this. Purdue had a good season and earned the right to play Kansas. Might have gotten smoked, but you can't win if don't play the game. Hats off to Kansas, that's a damn fine team and the last 15 minutes was a site to behold (if you were a KU fan); you don't normally see that kind of one-sided dominance in a round of 16 game..
