Tennessee Loses

did you think they were actually a top 20 team? They are who we all thought they were before we lost to them. and that's why we were so upset. it was only a matter of time before tenn reverted back to their level of play. Much like Arizona has finally righted their ship, regained their player and started winning.

They'll still be ranked. Teams are going to lose some conference games. Purdue will as well. If Purdue leaves conference play with 5 to 6 total losses (including the 2 they have), they'll be in good shape.

good shape - yes . top 10 ? no.

With 5 total losses in March, they'd probably be top 10. Does it really matter. Unless they go undefeated in conference play, or very close, they're not gonna be a 1 or 2 seed. And let's face it, unless the brackets are magical, this isn't a national championship caliber team. Hopefully that doesn't upset anyone...

I’m not upset , I simply disagree and couldn’t more

Look, great things could happen, and anyone could beat anyone on any given night. I love this team. And I hope I'm wrong. But I don't see them making a run on teams like KY, Kansas, Duke, etc. In the tournament. Did you see the beating KY put on Louisville yesterday? It took everything Purdue had to get past Louisville at home. And that wasn't a rivalry game. Teams like Kansas, KY, and Duke are LOADED with athletic talent. By March, they'll be hard to beat.

If we're honest with ourselves, this is probably a Sweet 16, maybe Elite 8 caliber team. Not a knock. Just trying to look at this objectively.

Did you see the beating that Purdue put on butler ? Didn’t they just beat villinova today ? Sorry none of those teams aren’t super teams this year . I don’t overhype teams never have , this team has everything . Perhaps could use a more athletic wing but ranked top ten in defense and offense . Top 5 in pretty much every computer model to . Inside out game , rim protection with Haarms. Sorry couldn’t disagree more

To me, athletic teams that play tight on our guards give Purdue the most trouble. Tennessee did it and so did WKU. Forced our Boilers into many bad decisions and passes. Not sure if any team has tried or had the athletes to do this same either prior to or after those two games. I love this year’s Boilers team and hope they can make a long run to late March/early April.

I believe Purdue matches up great against certain teams. I believe Purdue can beat Nova.

there were some upsets today and some almost upsets Ok beat TCU by 1. Vir beat boston College by 1. Ark beat tenn in OT. Ala killed Texas A &M. FSU lost to Duke by 7. DePaul lost by 5 to Xavier. Arizona was beating #3 Arizona St. I could see TCU and Texas A&M falling below us while Arizona and UK may rise above us with their recent wins (if Arizona beats ASU). So with a good week, Purdue will remain about where they started it, but will gain some votes. looking at the standings, Purdue is about the right spot for a 2 loss team.

in the tourney, the vast majority of games are close. I just want to see Purdue be on the winning end. I've seen too many close heart breaking losses.

Arizona ended up winning over Arizona State, 84-78. One more to add to your list.....North Carolina escaped at home against Wake Forest. I saw the last several minutes of that game.....classic example of a team in upset position failing to do the little things to pull it off. Down four late, UNC misses a three and gets a second chance and scores......Wake (who had been working well inside) jacks a couple of outside shots, then misses a front end in a tie game......still with the last possession down 2 under ten seconds.....another one-on-one perimeter play and long three.....UNC closed it at the line.

interesting...and ceertainly doesn't upset me. Purdue has some weaknesses, but what made the team of Villanova when they won, that Purdue couldn't do? Was it a Hart? Purdue is NOT athletic on the whole, but very skilled with an inside AND outside game that generally will not beat themselves. Now I would always take the field over a specific team, but what is it that you think Purdue is lacking that winning it all is not possible?

How would Kentucky rise above us according to the logic you use for Purdue not rising, ie not beating any ranked teams???

Probably because UK generally gets more love in the national polls than we do. They also dismantled Louisville this week. Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if Zona jumped us as well.

Basically they whipped up on Louisville and they also only have 2 losses and they always receive a lot more media attention and love from the basketball voters! I'm not saying it is right or deserved, but it wouldn't shock me! And I wouldn't be shocked if Arizona leap frogged us. There's nothing we can do or worry about it!

Neither of you are right or wrong - on a given day, teams are more beatable than on another day. We've seen what our team is capable of - if they play like they did against Arizona for example, they can beat anyone. If we played a Villanova, Kansas, Kentucky....and played like we did against Northwestern, we'd probably get beat by a double digit margin. We won both of those games, but our play was drastically different in both.
