I have not kept up on this, but do find it rather amusing that a school must "release" the child of a parent to attend another school of the parent and child's choice. In the past students were able to move to schools rather easy if it were for academics, but sports was another story. The schools didn't want to lose their gladiators, but a good student was not much of a concern. I don't know the formula today, but about 58 cents on the dollar came from the state meaning that parents in Evansville were paying for schools in LaPorte and vice versa years ago. I really wonder what schools would be like without any ties to sports...
