..............we just out recruited Bowling Green for Eddy Wilson.........Were running neck and neck with the top three of the MAC..........

Seems like a decent pickup though. Ill take a 3 star over all these 2's.

Your right ptbo, he does appear to be a decent pickup(3***)! Kind of puzzled no bigger schools looking at him! Lol! do we ever compete with other BIG schools for recruits anymore? It really does seem like all we are competing with are the CONF USA, MAC, and Sun Belt type conferences. God I hope I am so wrong, but gonna be tough to compete this way. I am not as concerned with the talent level as much as I am extremely concerned with our coaching staff being able to coach them up.........

Looks like Safety Tyvel Jemison is back in the fold as well. We recruited a few years ago I believe, looks like he will be enrolling.

Never cut a recruit down, the man took a Purdue offer, and will give it his best shot, I am glad he accepted. Welcome to Purdue

he still has to visit Miami, Fl. and Ole Miss, would love to land Provitt. Windsor is another guy I'd like to see us get but psu is in on him now too.

"sad"?? it's pathetic

It's pathetic that people feel the need to cut down recruits.

Who gives a rip who was recruiting them? It's like they need to have that satisfaction Purdue has won a recruiting battle just to make themselves feel important.

People like that are to be pitied.

The best DT frosh in big was a two star recruit with one offer, he went to Minnesota. One of main reasons he got the offer was because his head coach called a Kiel and told him he has another diamond in the rough. The first diamond was Jordan Lynch a Mac qb who played in BCs with one offer

Now the DT has 3 stars somehow after this year

Good god! Some of you need to take a chill pill!! It is alarming that for the past 7 or 8 years, that all we seem to get is mostly 2 star mixed in with a few 3 stars. We do seem to be competing mainly with the mid level conference's for players, reason half the time we end up losing to the MAC conf teams we do play. We are not going to build a program with mainly these level recruits. And your talking about finding gems, haw many have we found over the past few years? Finding one or two isn't going to cut it in the overall scheme of things. As I mentioned earlier, it's not so much we get these level of athletes, we appear to not have the coaching staff's that can coach them up! And playing in the BIG, we need one hell of a coaching up. Our records speak for themselves over that 7 to 8 year period.Bury your heads in the sand all you want, we have been what we have been for a reason......................How many here are getting those "WARM FUZZY'S" that DH is bringing in Or the DH before him??????

Whew! Glad to know that kids getting recruited by Georgia, USC, etc. are on the same level as kids getting recruited by Western Kentucky, Memphis, etc.

I mean if 'who cares', it must all be negligibly the same. I feel a lot better now.

While some take personal pride in others accomplishments like your second bolded sentence, the clear and vast majority here just want to see us compete with middle of the road p5 schools. You don't find it concerning we are the only p5 offer for most of these kids?

Re: "sad"?? it's pathetic

No one is "cutting down recruits" as much as "cutting down" this staff for recruiting kids that they're going to "throw to the wolves" in games and then after a loss say..."we need to get better" when the kids are playing up to their ability. 2* recruits are role players. Their over-matched against the better players in the conference and their instincts, speed and football IQ is eventually exposed against good players. "coach" hazell and his "staff" have been recruiting role players instead of recruiting Power 5 starters and blending the 2* guys into situations where they can be successful in their roles.

My guess is the coaching staff are recruiting their a**** off to get 4 and 5 Star kids to give Purdue a look . . . Unfortunately we are caught in the death spiral of not being to recruit because we are not winning and not winning because we cannot recruit. This obviously requires us to have coaches which can get the most out of "average" talent, kids that over-achieve and hopefully a key win or two to build a little momentum so the 4/5 Star kids will give us a look.

In the meantime, welcome to kids that are committed to Purdue . . . Go Boilers!

I have a feeling you're right, SuPurduePer. A handful of coaches could make it work with this mix of players. Greg Schiano, Jerry Kiel. Both Joe Tiller and Kirk Ferentz have done ok with "development guys."

But, it's not easy to do. Some of these guys won't pan out, so injuries and depth are often a problem. It's hard to sustain momentum when we have 2\3 the talent of most conference opponents. But the staff has to do something positive with these guys if it wants to recruit bigger-name players.

Re: Hey we haven't beaten the MAC lately...

Thats about what our record should be against them, since that is who we seem to be recruiting against lately!

Yeah... you're right. None of those schools you slammed put out any big time CFB players.

I "don't find it concerning"?? That's the measure?!

Uh, no... that wasn't the point. The point was to cut down the player in an attempt to slam Purdue. Period.

Do all Purdue fans want a roster full of blue chip recruits? Well, duh. But we have a boatload of fans who just p*ss and moan, thinking we're just magically going to go steal a bunch of recruits from "Georgia, USC, etc.".

That's sheer lunacy. No, it's stupidity. Even if that isn't viewed as being "nice". It's just not reality.

Build the program by getting solid players. Even if the fans want to trash them.

...wha...?!

You guys need to chill out. Were coming off two bad seasons and it will take time. Dantonio didn't build MSU overnight. Look at some of his early classes as I think that is the blueprint we should be following. Example- Bell and Dennard were both two star guys with MAC offers in the same class.
We all want recruits with offer lists including Ohio State, Alabama, and USC but that isn't realistic right now. No available coach would be able to get those kids to Purdue the past few seasons. Last year at this time we were all talking about Robinson, but Bentley turned out to be our best recruit and best freshman we've had in recent memory.

Lets not even compare DH to Dantonio! Dantonio has a successful track record at his two previous stents before coming to MSU. Most are missing the point here, we flat out don't have the confidence in this staff to coach these kids up to compete with the uppers of the BIG. But if most will be satisfied competing with the bottom third of the conference, then go ahead and get excited..........Most don't have to use the analogy of letting it play out to see if these recruits will work out! Yes, you may find a couple of GEMS, but we will need to find a whole lot of GEMS! You're not going to find a lot with mainly 2* recruits playing in this conference. It's the lipstick on a pig that comes to mind for me. And by DH keeping Shoop for a third season solidifies that for me...........when we start having less than 25k fannies in the seats next season, then maybe most of you will finally get it!

You forgot to log in to your other account when you posted your wall of text. Have you gotten so lazy that you aren't even trying anymore and just given in to the fact that you've been busted ?

Keep digging that hole, it's funny to watch.

The only Purdue coach to have a better recruiting class then Dantonio was Hope. "coach" hazell hasn't...won't...can't be compared to COACH Dantonio.

Not sure where I compared the two coaches, just said that would be a good blueprint to follow as MSU wasn't getting great classes before his success. I was pointing out that we are not a sexy football school and we won't be a destination for bigger recruits until we have more success on the field, no matter who the coach is. The gem two stars are rare, but people who were giddy for Etling saying he was the savior of the program were bashing him two years later. Outside of the top 100 players, recruiting is more about finding talented guys who can fit the system than anything else. There are multiple threads about all the 4 star guys who haven't panned out for Purdue.

It is useless to make sarcastic threads about players who only have MAC offers when you have no idea how good they'll be. A lot of the younger guys who have had to play just weren't ready and shouldn't have been starters at a Big Ten school until a few years in college football but were forced to play due to lack of depth.
