T.J. Jallow 3* Cornerback Commit

Yes ! This is a game changing recruit ! We signed somebody the big boys wanted !

On the film, he plays man to man well, does not give much space between him and the receiver, blocks on the line of scrimmage and blows up running plays.

He looks good!

U of L has to feel a bit like they wasted precious time on him...TWICE! He was committed to them coming out of HS then had to go the JUCO route and committed to them again this past February...that is until a U of L alum came along to steal him away for us. Great get!

I think its more likely Petrino didn't have room for him. Gave Brohm a heads up, or Brohm already knew about him. Either way its highly unlikely Brohm's first week on the job he want shopping for players committed to his former boss. Petrino sent some transfers Brohm's way at WKU. I'm sure they will have some future recruiting battles for Kentucky recruits, but doubt he poaches this year.

Couple JuCo OL decommitted from Louisville this week....hopefully same thing happens

Maybe...it could also be the recent bad news hitting the airwaves as well. You can't fault a kid for being turned off by that.

a more telling tale is that he decommited the day before Louisville signed 4* DB Yeast ! I have to believe Petrino informed him he was going I n a different direction, and gave him Brohm's name. ohm offered him a scholarship at WKU within 10 days of his decomitment. . as they say, better us than somebody else. I doubt Petrino would be sending us Yeast any time soon.

They signed Avery and Yeast. They didn't have room for him with him only having 2 years of eligibility. Purdue could use him right away and Petrino put in a good word for Brohm due to prior ties. To think we stole one from Petrino is being overly optimistic. Brohm likely won't steal from Petrino because of all Petrino has done for him and Louisville is likely Brohm's dream job. It was a great get and he will be able to contribute immediately, but we didn't steal him away.

This kids got some impressive offers. Good start for Brohm.

Watch the tape on him, he won't be beating up big ten receivers like that. like him being aggressive but can't do that here and not get torched. But he is physical and will get coached up now. We haven't had corners that big here in many moons. If he starts at safety he may have a better chance to cover and come down hill and be aggressive. IS he a 3 for 2 guy?

This. I would be praying Petrino stays on the straight and narrow. If Jurich ever gets morals and fires petrino the first call he makes will be to Brohm.

Does anyone have the details of Brohm's buyout? I would hope it is more than Louisville could afford for the next few years, anyway.

Petrino isn't going anywhere. To big of a buyout, for anyone to touch Petrino.

Unless Petrino starts doing Petrino things and gets termed for cause. That's my biggest concern. Let's hope if that happens the program gets put on probation as well.
That is the scenario. Think IU and Kevin Wilson. So if that were to happen, what's the price for Louisville to buy out Brohm?

Louisville (read Papa John) can afford the buyout. But would Louisville take Brohm over Strong?

Louisville has no problem taking coaches that left them once before and failed (on or off the field) elsewhere

I think the fear of losing Brohm to Louisville is pretty unfounded at this point in time. Not saying it could never happen but I don't think we are anywhere close to that right now and, frankly, if he were to get Purdue up and running in the Big Ten West there would be little reason for him to make that switch other than it being his hometown. If he were to become a commodity while coaching Purdue I'd think he would be looking for an elite job as his next step.

Jesus the guy has been here a week and you're wringing your hands about losing him already.

Relax and enjoy it for a minute.

as I see it, if he were to get Purdue back on its feet, and start churning out 7, 8 and 9 win seasons, he would have no reason to go back to Louisville or any other school, as Purdue would then be an elite school. It's sort of like UW and MSU. if you're winning 8-10 games a year, and competing for a BIG 10 championship, how much better can you get? I thought the UW coach leaving for Arkansas was a step down. And he's probably regretting the move now. If we get this team on the right track, we would be competing with UW and Nebraska for the BIG 10 West and a top 10-15 ranking. and a trip to a major bowl game. We might even get the administration to spend some money on football. Salary wise, Purdue is offering some very good money for a head coach.

This is a great point. My thought has always been that if he got us to 7+ wins/year then I would be fine with him leaving because he would have turned us into a respectable program again and we would be able to hire a good coach to replace him. But now that the B1G is thought to be the best conference in football, why would he want to leave if we were competing for championships? I think if we got to that point the administration would be willing to pony up and compete with other offers, as they seem to be showing more of a commitment to sports finally.

I agree, at the time I thought Bulemia taking the Hog's job was a step down also, he must o had some issues w/ the higher ups there.

UW wasn't going to increase Bret's pay, I think that's why he left.

Had an issue with his inability to retain staff members due to insufficient pay.

Bielema left UW for Arkansas for other reasons, and I'll leave it at that.

Bielema didn't like the "Alvarez Factor" there. He was a douche and I'm glad he's out of the B1G.

so, you're saying UW fired him, but made it look like he resigned to take the Arkansas job ?

That's part of it. Let's just say, he didn't fit the Alvarez mold . . . which I highly respect, and I respect them for showing him the door.
There are 2 sides to the Alvarez vs Bielema situation at UW. I'm no apologist for Bret Bielema and am no fan of the negative recruiting Wisc routinely used when he was HC. But Barry Alvarez is no saint either. I think Joe Tiller might agree that they have engaged in negative recruiting against us ever since Alvarez got there. I still find it odd he managed to get seduced by Nevin Shapiro from Miami, invest his lives savings with a con man and then loose 1m or so in a ponzi scheme? Then he decides to pursue a lawsuit against his own lawfirm when they were unable to collect the debt after Shapiro goes to prison. Dont get me started on Alvarezs adult son who received a slap on the wrist after he microwaved his room mates pet paraquet while a student at UW? Helps if your name is Alvarez in Madison, I guess?

a lot of it had nothing to do with recruiting. Or W/L record.
