Swanigan to announce college next week...

I'm going out on a limb and will say Painter lands him. They have put in the work, close to home, great education and have some really nice pieces to go around him.

AJ 5
biggie 4
VE 3
Davis 2
Open 1

KS, Mathias, PJ, Haas, Taylor, BS off bench
That's 11 deep, somebody is going to get cut out that plans on playing. No way Painter plays that many.
Haas will back up AJ, Kendall backing up VE, Mathias at the 2/3. PJ will play at the 1
Taylor and Basil at the four. Taylor is bigger and has s higher ceiling, basil will be an upperclassman and experienced. Not sure

Cline/Grant freshman
Is there anyway Cline redshirts so a year isn't wasted, ala ryne smith

I sincerely hope you are right Boilersville!!

I hope he'll come but I'm not as optimistic that we do is enough to entice him over Duke, Kentucky, Mich St, Kansas, etc.

Another positive we have is that having AJ come back (hopefully) and Haas around will allow CS to play the 4 (which is what he would prefer to do). However, other schools may be able to offer that as well.

If Painter wants to keep AJ and have a shot at Swanigan, he's going to need to get a 5th year or JUCO point guard in who can play immediately that he knows can pass the ball down low.

Within the next week? That will be quite a task.

Lol.

He is currently a roommate of another 5 star prospect that happens be committed to MSU. I'm gonna go out on a limb that is a little thicker and say that he ends up there. Wouldn't be surprised if it was Duke, but with MSU's nice run and Izzo doing what he does in March I'm guessing he picks MSU.

What I don't understand is why some people think we still have a chance with no solid option at point currently. I think pj will be a solid point as a senior and maybe even his junior year but not next year. He's not picking Purdue they never do.

While history tells me he goes anywhere but Purdue......I was curious how the above happened?

Roomate at the McD's game? Don't know that I've ever heard where that's a deciding factor.

You're right. It's just coincidence. I change my mind he's a Purdue lock.
Lol man you could not have exaggerated\mislead us more with that. Its a game hardly his roomate lmao

As much as I hope that Painter can land him, I have to go with my tempered Purdue instinct and say that he is either going to UK, MSU, or Duke.

I'd put money on it if Vegas had prop bets like that.

Would love to see him in Gold and Black, but severely doubt that is happening.

I'm not optimistic since Hammons has yet to make a decision. Since he kept mentioning one of the pros for Purdue was the possibility of playing with 2 seven footers, I figured he'd at least wait to see what Hammons would do if he was serious about us. Oh well, no big surprise if a 5 star passes on us again.

Based on his comment to play with an NBA center, not play the 5 so he can show his skills as at the 4, I say he goes to UK. But who knows if this guy is a one in done he may pick Purdue, and he would be a pick fish rigjt away.

My gut says he is the latest Dawson and Harris...close but no cigar, yet another loss to Michigan State.

I can't handle another one of those I was so dissapointed with those two. A couple other non MSU guys that nearly killed me were Marquis Teague and Chasson Randle.

We were never in the running for Marquis Teague.

LSU landed the #1 5* player in the whole damn country for next year!

LSU.

And his teammate who had offers from EVERYONE (#14 5* in the country).

LSU.

To say that the mighty Purdue Boilermakers WON'T or CAN'T get a player like Swanigan is just foolish blather. Of course we can, and I hope we will.

My Boiler brethren, let's all lift prayers of thanks, praise, and hope until that day of decision. YES WE CAN!

Do you really think Painter is going to land Swanigan based on that competition? Seriously? Based on what track record of Painter's? I personally think Swanigan was being kind to Purdue by listing them as a potential recruit. 3 of the teams after him are in the Final 4. Get a clue.

I get a couple of you have this agenda on here for whatever reason, but this statement of yours is just false. I can tell you from living in the area that the interest from Swanigan in regards to Purdue is very much legit and he isn't just "being kind".

Now it's being reported that there is a package deal of Swanigan, Rabb, and J. Brown all going to our good friend Mr. Martin out at Cal. WOW way to go Counzo!!!

Agree with you on the most hated rival. No way IU surpasses MSU as our strongest rival. I think it is because Painter and Izzo gravitate toward the same recruits. They coach similar tough defense, measured offense games. That says good things about Painter, but Izzo has the pull of already having gone to the FF. It is the story of the rich get richer.

As far as a fit for Swanagan, I still see it as a toss up between MSU and Purdue, because both have situations where he would be a great. MSU is bringing in another 5* forward, so Swanagan might be playing a version of center there. The counter argument is that MSU rarely uses a true center the way Purdue does. They really run a 2 post game, with both posts doing the work of the traditional center.

Purdue can offer playing time next to very good senior and sophmore true centers. MSU can only offer playing next to a freshman post, who may or may not be as good as his ranking. This would lead me to think Pusdue might be a bit better than MSU as a fit for S.

The "but" in this arguement is that such subtle differences in fit may get pushed aside with the FF run MSU is making right now.

Hope you are right, but it's hard to imagine Purdue getting picked when the other 3 teams on his list are in the FF this weekend (when he is making his announcement) and have all been to the final 4 multiple times in the last decade. It's a stretch to think we can do this, but if we could add Swanigan and a solid PG like Octeus again, we could be a contender next year. Would love to see that.

I agree that random teams land 5 star kids year after year. Our last guy that was close at all was Moore so we are overdue.

LOL. no but I'm sticking to my opinion that we have no chance of landing Caleb.

LSU is a really strange basketball program. The school has a high-profile athletics department with a ton of money, and they seem to regularly attract top-shelf basketball talent. According to rivals, they've signed 10 four-star and 7 five-star recruits since 2002, including Glen Davis and Anthony Randolph.

But for all that, the on-the-court product has been pretty average except for their FF run under Brady in 2006. Plus, the program seems to have a lot of Texas-style off-the-court drama.

He's been rooming with Boiler grad and former player Rosie Barns for 3 years. There is a chance.

Maybe this is selfish, but I hope Cuonzo doesn't land that combo. It would confirm my worst fear: Cuonzo is a far better recruiter, for whatever reason, than Painter.
