Not that this will motivate anyone else (nor should it really) but I'm putting some "skin in the game" for grins this off season. While I think Matt Painter has done some decent things in his head coaching stint at Purdue, it has been mostly disappointing and not an ideal ROI scenario with my measuring stick of success over a decade being: Multiple Big 10 Championships, 4+ Sweet 16 appearances, and dare I say a freakin Final Four or National Title game appearance should not be so unreachable (yes Hummel going down with the ACL was our best chance and you can't fault Painter for that).

So here's what I will commit to IF AJ stays one more year AND we land Caleb Swanigan...I will purchase 2 basketball season tickets for next season and I will give those 2 seats away to a less fortunate kid in the Central Indiana area and their parent/guardian each game (I may go to 1-2 myself travel willing).

And while I'm just throwing some things out there:

1. Mitch Daniels may be a genius when it comes to running the university ACADEMICALLY (fundraising, innovation, flat tuition) and I see his points about how hard it is to compete in the arms race to be competitive in football and basketball. BUT, personally I think he needs to hire a talented Chief Marketing/Revenue Office for Athletic Fundraising. I have not given a dime to the JPC recently I must confess. Nothing I've heard from even the likes of Brian Cardinal and Pete Quinn have inspired me that investing in something "Our Man" Mitch does not seem to be gung-ho about is compelling me to pony up. And I really admire Brian and Pete more than they probably know. There is a part of me that really wants to give too.

2. We are really fortunate to have Brian Neubert pouring his heart and honest talk into the blogs, video updates, etc. Not trying to kiss your ass too much, BN, but just say thanks. I took a year off from this site because Purdue Sports was too depressing and I needed to get a life ;) Thank you Brian AND GBI staff for not being a sycophant of the Athletic Department or University. Perhaps someday, we may even see the world end with Brian, fomo3, and I having a cold beer at Harry's and realizing that we're just Purdue graduates that love Purdue sports and have different ways of expressing that "love" sometimes.

3. kboiler - you should quit your day job and immediately take on the position of Purdue Game Day Atmosphere Operations and Promotions. I still admit to watching your ND 2004 highlight video featuring "BOOM" from P.O.D from time to time as motivation (linked). I love the idea of "Turn Down For What" playing after a major run in Mackey Arena instead of the lame video promos.

And finally because I'm not one to hide for long anonymously behind my keyboard:
