This year, it seems it can happen anywhere. I have to say I was joyfully surprised with Wisconsin's fall at Ohio State. That said, I just didn't think this would happen. Now we have to get our head's up and take care of business. It would be sweet to be outright champs without an asterisk for a tie-breaker. It starts tomorrow. Go Boilers.

They are struggling this year, but the talents are there at OSU. They got a whole bunch of 5 stars and 4 stars on their team, including Bates-Diop and JaQuan Lyle whom we know so well. I know Thad Matta is not well physically, but they are NOT producing as their star rankings suggest. Who knows, some of them might have flourished better had they accepted Painter's offer.

No conference road loss is a surprise anymore. Even the top teams have been struggling on the road all season. Earlier when Maryland and Wisconsin were just scraping by, I thought perhaps they had the "it factor" to win those games. But it appears they were just lucky.

All I can say is there will be a tremendous number of coaching openings in the B1G this spring since every team has lost to someone they shouldn't have and that's completely the coaches faults.

They MUST go!!

Both of those teams are still solid basketball clubs. Remember Wisky struggled last year in B10 and then still made it to sweet 16. Purdue is the best team in B10 but both of those teams are still capable of surprising.

Yep. And you can bet UM will be up for this game like no other in their season. They struggled with Rutgers but they will be at home and very dangerous.

Ya, I'm so nervous about this game, I don't know if I'll be able to watch it. A pretty bad Michigan team scored the last 11 points to beat Purdue at their place last year. Not to be Captain Obvious, but Purdue has to play precision basketball for all 40 minutes Saturday.

Last year's Purdue team also, we are better this year(remember that debate?) I think we play a very good game and win. Purdue is in a must win just as much as Michigan and Northwestern etc.

Fortunately or unfortunately I will be taking my 2 year old daughter to see Daniel Tiger live at 2pm on Saturday so I might miss the game. I was at a wedding last weekend vs MSU and that turned out well... hopefully we will be 2/2 while I miss games this year!

Boiler up and win the B1G outright! We need this one after IU ties us last year for most conference titles.

Win tomorrow and we have a chance to clinch the outright title at home against IU if Wisconsin falls again on the road! That would be special!

We're taking my daughter to the new Lego movie Saturday. I haven't yet decided if it will be an afternoon matinee or an evening show. Might depend on how much intestinal fortitude I can muster tomorrow!

No problem watching game tomorrow. First round NCAA? Yeah that might one I will have trouble with.

Interesting take. I'm actually confident that this Purdue team has learned its lesson about the first round of the NCAA tournament and will perform well against any opponent. I actually think Purdue could put a 15 or 20 point beat-down on somebody.

It's late season road games against conference bubble teams that concern me the most.

I think you may be right but I still going to be difficult game to watch. Shooting hoops with my kid last year up 14 with 4 minutes left and feeling good. Love a blowout

You are correct about Michigan playing well right now. But I am done drawing any similarities between this years Purdue and last years Purdue. This version is just plain better.
This team can still get beat by Michigan but they won't if locked in mentally.

I like the "locked in mentally" need. I think that is so true.

Purdue wins IMO with no doubts....

Sure it may be close in the first half something like PU 37 Michigan 34....but then Painter will play his hand.

Late second half around 8 min mark we show why we are the Big Ten leader and rebound, hit our free throws, hit our three pointers and start fouling out Michigan guys left and right to cruise to a Purdue 81 Michigan 70 victory.

They wont be able to handle Biggie and Haas at same time and late second half we hit 3 three pointers in a row to step on the gas and deflate them.

Of course I could be wrong and we win by 1 point.....it is still a win and in my book 1 point is as good as 100.

Boiler Up!

Yeah, well try watching a game with a one point difference and another with a 100. :)

No worries guys. I'll be at Michigan tomorrow so if Painter is having problems I'll just yell at the team to play zone and we'll be fine.
So let me replay the scene from last night. OSU on fire from the perimeter...2nd half. Tate and Thompson on the bench for fouls. Wisconsin who always plays position man defense surprises everyone with a 1-2-2 zone...I assume to catch them off guard and change things. Of all the zones, this is not a bad choice as it has a hole in the middle, but covers the perimeter better (made the prediction years ago to any that would list that I could see some high schools moving towards tat zone due to the three ball) AND as I said TATE adn THOMPSON were both on the bench. A handful of seconds into the possession and OSU scores a bucket right underneath and that was teh last of the Badger Zone. Now that is not to say that a zone, couldn't work, but only to say this team that surprised everyone with it immediately gave up an easier basket than they were with the inside players of OSU on the bench. A reasonable thought by Wisconsin I guess, but...
