Listen I like Haas but every team knows how to score on him. Pull him away, even a little Nd he can’t recover. We just made WKU look like the Harlem Globetrotters
Start Haarms, he atleast provides defense.
I think your going have to roll the dice with Taylor as well. It’s unbelievable he hasn’t seen 1 minute in Atlantis.

It prob makes sense to look at playing zone some this year since painter is going to live and die with Haas
He’s too slow to make the switch and can’t gaurd away from the beast

Yeah this whole switching Haarms and Haas on different ends on the floor is ridiculous. Haas is not a Mason or Miles Plumlee that the media thinks he is. He is totally one dimensional on the offensive end, and he is being subbed out on D for a freshman. I'm all for developing big men, but why invest so much time and resources into a player who as a senior still has so many skill gaps?!?!

You people are crazy. If Purdue had fed the ball inside consistently to Haas all game, he not only gets more easy points for himself, he opens things up for the shooters. Haas kept Purdue in the game, could’ve carried the team to the win if given the chance throughout the game. Just needed one of Edwards, Edwards, or Dakota to play well. They didn’t, which is why the boilers lost.

Haas lead the team in scoring last game - the could t drop him when he played close to the basket. That said, I’d rather have Haarms on D. I am fine with CMP switching O for D.

I think he was only switching them because of Haas’ foul trouble, he had 4 at that point.

You could be right. Right now I still think Haas is better than Haarms on offense and Haarms is better than Haas on defense... in most situations. That said it’s all about matchups. CMP is a far better coach than I could ever be. I’ll defer to him.

Isaac was 7 for 8 and 8 for 10 from the free throw line. Their tallest player was 6'7". The only reason we lost was Isaac not getting the ball enough.

Isaac played a great offensive game and agree we need to feed him more when he has it going. Conversely, he gave up 17 pts and 9 rebs to said 6'7" player. That is ultimately the problem. Isaac can play a great offensive game, but it's essentially a wash because he can't defend well enough.

I didn't see much of the game so I don't know if you're being accurate. I saw Haarms getting scored on in a big situation. So at most Isaac gave up 15.

Most of it was on Haas. simple head fakes and moves gets Isaac out of position and he can't recover. His reaction time is slow, so despite the height difference, he is often not affecting or altering the shot of someone 7 inches shorter than him and quite 'pudgy' (not the most athletic big). That's why Painter subs Haarms in for defense for Haas in late game situations (also to avoid foul trouble for Haas).

I wouldn’t expect an IU fan to watch Purdue games... that said, most don’t waste their time on this board either. So please just stop.

Well I watched a couple of Purdue's games.. Haarms is gonna be a good one. Needs to add some pounds. Kid really cares shows his emotions. Nothing wrong with that in my book.

Another problem is Purdue does one thing on offense: try to dump the ball inside and if not, throw the ball around the perimeter and then jack up a 3.
Watch how other teams attack P, they dribble penetrate, get the defense into rotations, throw it up on the rim and then crash the boards.

I am not sure what game you posters were watching, but I just saw the game on replay. Johnson scored 3, I repeat 3 baskets against Haas. The rest were against Haarms and Edwards. You were right that Johnson faked a jump shot and went around and under Haas, but that was one freaking play. Haas blocked 2 shots and influenced other missed shots.

On offense Haas was open a couple of times, but instead we jacked up 3's. Haas also did a good job passing out of the post. He was called for 2 questionable offensive fouls and would have scored 2 other baskets except for fouls one time via the elbow and the other time a guard was boxing him out and because of the weight difference they called Haas for getting around him

looks like Matty Haarms brought the intensity tonight. so many blocks or altered shots from him. I noticed he didn't swing down as much, just straight up and make it hard for offensive player and minimize risk of fouling. me likes.

guard play was 180 from first 2 games. seemed we played with more purpose and intensity throughout. also thought our perimeter D was pretty good (also 180 from 1st 2 games).

we looked so much better tonight. keep maintaining focus!
