The Bears have 8 kickers in camp. At the end of practice yesterday, they all had to try the “Cody Parkey kick”. 6 out of 8 missed. Guess who made it.

As anyone who knows me knows, kickers are my all time favorite position in football (done with sarcasm...heavy, heavy, HEAVY sarcasm). Having said that, the profession is identical to what Arnold Palmer used to say about pro golf: "The toughest distance is the six inches between your ears". There's a plethora of kickers who can hit a fifty yarder. There's a handful that can do it with two seconds on the clock in a game for all the marbles.

Kind of like Larry Bird said anyone can take a shot at the end of a game when it’s tied. A real shooter is the guy who takes it and makes it when he’s down 1 or 2.
