Purdue started 1-4 from the line as Hammons missed a pair and Davis split a pair. From then on, they made 20-22, with the only 2 misses being the pair that Octeus missed. Purdue ended up 21-26 for 80.8%.

On the flip side, Illinois entered the game leading the nation in FT shooting. They were 18-26 (69.2%).

If, as one would expect, those numbers are flipped, Purdue very well may have lost this game. Kudos to the guys for bearing down and hitting their free throws. Hammons made his last 6. Davis made his last 7.
