Found some advanced metrics to consider when looking at the team up to this point in time:

Percentage of Possessions in to the Red Zone: 16.67 (placing Purdue at 114th) This the frequency at which Purdue gets in to the red zone but is skewed since Purdue has scored on a number of long plays this season.

Opponent Percentage of Possessions in to the Red Zone: 42.86 (placing Purdue 112th) The opposite for Purdue's defense meaning Purdue is allowing nearly half of all opponent drives to enter the red zone.

Sacks per Passing Attempts: 24.33 (placing Purdue 41st) This also could be skewed a bit given teams who run the ball more may end up having a higher ratio or even a lower ratio (only passing the ball 30 times and giving up 1 sack). Up to this point that is a massive improvement from 2017 in which the offensive line gave up a sack every 15.94 passing attempts.

Opponent Completion %: 63.89% (placing Purdue 98th) Could be skewed again if you happened to play GT and Navy the first two weeks and they didn't attempt a pass but given Purdue played NU and EMU who threw the ball regularly, that isn't a very good sign for a team like Missouri who throws the ball more than they run the ball.

Completion %: 62.86% (placing Purdue 50th) Missouri and EMU are all ahead of Purdue in this category. Boston College also ranks as 3rd in this category. NU ranks below Purdue at 58.51%. This is a telling mark and one that will need to be improved upon if Purdue wants to start to win football games. The water mark should be 67% IMO which would push Purdue in to the 30's.

Rushing Yards per Attempt: 7.94 yards (placing Purdue 3rd) This is likely where Purdue needs to put it's focus more in the coming weeks. If this is the strength of the offense this season, so be it. Although skewed by multiple long runs by Moore, Knox, and Jones it may be conducive to Purdue's ability to create opportunities for backs to get in to the second level where they should have an advantage in open space.

Opponent Rushing Yards per Attempt: 3.15 (Placing Purdue 32nd) This is where Purdue's bread is buttered with Holt at the helm. The ability to stop the run is a key component to any defense and if Purdue can figure out the back half of the defense to be competent against the pass, a massive improvement in the program overall will take place. This is where more young players will be seen over the course of the season if they are needed, especially given the new rules for red-shirting.
