I hear all the time that if you want the best chance to get drafted you go to UK because Calipari gets guys in the NBA. Been reading up on all the mock drafts and the individual pre-draft workouts and it sounds like Aaron Harrison likely will go undrafted and Andrew Harrison will be lucky to go late in the 2nd round. Now, we are talking about consensus top 10 players in their graduating class. Andrew was #5 and Aaron was #7 according to Rivals. So after two years of development at UK they will be lucky to even be drafted? Wonder if this helps expose the myth that Calipari is some kind of magic ticket to the NBA.

Nope. They'll get lost in the sea of nobodys that he's turned into first round draft picks...

None of those guys had a prayer until Cal worked his magic on their games. It is absolutely shocking that the whole "Calipari gets guys drafted" myth has had the staying power it has.

Ridiculous.

I think Willis will be.......................not.

Ironically, it's had the opposite effect on Willis' career, unless he goes nuts this next year.

He would have had much more opportunity elsewhere. Whether he would have had the drive to take advantage of it, or not, is another story...

Also looks like Dakari Johnson, another top 10 ranked, 5 star recruit with 2 years in the UK system is projected at the very bottom of the 2nd round. So, 3 out of the 7 that declared from UK this year are projected at the bottom of the 2nd round or undrafted. Yikes.

Looks like very poor job of evaluating the kid's prospects by UK or the kid's handler or both. Might have been better off to stick around and get a degree even if it is from UK or at least try to move up their respective draft status.

Think about other 1 and dones who will be first rounders. If they had gone to
UK, would they still be? I think about D. Russell from OSU. I am fairly sure his star would not have risen as high as it did. I think Cal will continue to sell his deal, but given his failure to produce a perennial championship team and given also the point made in this thread about the risk of being lost in the shuffle, I think Cal's ability to corral a whole stable of 5-star studs may decline.

D. Russell is a great example. He was able to step in and be the star of that team and showcase all his skills while getting huge minutes. At UK he'd be sharing time with the Harrisons and Booker. And he wouldn't have been able to take over a game like he did at OSU because he'd probably piss off Towns, Cauley-Stein, and the other big talents for not getting them involved.
