I beliebe in the last AP poll we were like the 3-7th team getting votes .. with all the teams that will lose I’d bet somewhere around 20If so, guesses on where?
Doesn’t matter. We finished 9-4 and our losses were to teams that are currently 39-11 (0.780) with wins over #2 (currently 10-3) and #3 (finished 11-2).Was Tennessee?
What would you guess SD? I think 20ishDoesn’t matter. We finished 9-4 and our losses were to teams that are currently 39-11 (0.780) with wins over #2 (currently 10-3) and #3 (finished 11-2).
I’m guessing 21-23. Depends on results of remaining bowl games. Since it’s the AP Poll, we’ll get a boost from the writers. If this were the Coaches Poll I have a feeling we would just miss the Top 25 or just sneak in.What would you guess SD? I think 20ish
Penn state has 5 losses and 2 B1G losses behind Wisconsin, Minny, Purdue no way are they ranked ahead of them. They arent exactly playing Oklahoma, but I do expect Arkansas will drop out if they lose.BYU, Arkansas and texas A&M should all drop, but i'm unsure how far. the loser of iowa vs Kentucky will drop. But both UW and Minn won their bowl games and neither was ranked. they could both move up. penn st has an outside chance of making the top 25 if they have an impressive outback bowl performance. Penn st is a more popular choice among voters than Purdue. Purdue could beat out Minnesota and sneak into the top 25. the 3 keys are how far BYU will fall; and we need victories from iowa and penn st to show the bifg 10 strength. and will purdue get more votes than texas A&M for playing in a bowl game ? My guess would be somewhere 24-27th place.
I'd say 23rdPenn state has 5 losses and 2 B1G losses behind Wisconsin, Minny, Purdue no way are they ranked ahead of them. They arent exactly playing Oklahoma, but I do expect Arkansas will drop out if they lose.
BYU is 12, I doubt they drop 14+ spots.
We barely beat the SEC #8 team how do we justify our "Big 10 strength" by having 3 Big Ten teams leapfrogging the SEC #4 in Texas A&M. Im not even sure we pass up UK if they lose to Iowa.
You’re so FOS. Iowa is 10-3 and won the BIG West. They played in the BIG Championship game.I'm just saying that penn st even with more losses than purdue is a more popular team among coaches and sports writers. and if they have an impressive win, they will likely garner more votes than purdue will. i'm not saying it's justified or deserved. i'm saying it's the reality of the business. Fans don't vote. look at iowa. they had the same record as purdue, and purdue beat them. Yet iowa is the team in the top 15. the voting doesn't go by records.
It’s time for your reading comprehension course before you open your stupid mouth again! Purdue beat Iowa! Yet Iowa was still ranked a lot higher. If Iowa should lose, the loses would be identical yet Iowa would remain ranked a lot higher than Purdue! You’re so FOS. Iowa is 10-3 and won the BIG West. They played in the BIG Championship game.
You’re not the moderator. You continue to post idiotic things on here. Iowa won the BIG West and played for the BIG Championship. If I were a moderator, you would be one of the first posters I would remove from this board! this board doesn’t need your name calling posts and never did!
I gave my opinion. You gave your typical insults in response. And basically, that’s all you ever do! For the last 10 years. You yell at and insult people! You need to either change your posting habits or be gone!
I'm more concerned that we won the game, don't remember rankings as muchIt will be interesting to see how the voting media people and coaches look at our win over Tennessee. I would expect Purdue to get 0 votes from SEC coaches and writers within the SEC footprint. Of course, Purdue might not have gotten any from those folks before. We'll see.
Absolutely.I'm more concerned that we won the game, don't remember rankings as much
Purdue should have already been ranked, but, absolutely deserves to be in what will be the final poll.Doesn’t matter. We finished 9-4 and our losses were to teams that are currently 39-11 (0.780) with wins over #2 (currently 10-3) and #3 (finished 11-2).

Looks like we made 24 in ESPN. Interesting, they dropped Iowa and no Minnesota. https://www.aol.com/espn-releases-t...Tqge0bUBvvGp4-MzwHD-pqGN8hTXjv_x601gAr2soAwhAIf so, guesses on where?

It's great that Purdue made it in at #24. That said, there are some crazy rankings in this system.Looks like we made 24 in ESPN. Interesting, they dropped Iowa and no Minnesota. https://www.aol.com/espn-releases-t...Tqge0bUBvvGp4-MzwHD-pqGN8hTXjv_x601gAr2soAwhA
That's the computer model, not the voters' rankings. Computer models obviously create some weird rankings based on strength of schedule, margin of victory, and whatnot. It's great that Purdue made it in at #24. That said, there are some crazy rankings in this system.
How is Penn State #14 --- and 5 spots ahead of an 11-win MSU team that beat both PSU and Michigan? No way 6-7 Auburn is a top-20 team.
they got points for playing and barely losing to a very good team. I do wonder how much the entertainment value of the bowl games played into the rankings, if at all.Tennessee at 25??
Yes, absolutely, I appreciate that. That's what I was trying to get at. Auburn played (and lost) at PSU in September. Neither team turned out to be that great, but their continued over ranking still helps each other in SOS.That's the computer model, not the voters' rankings. I think Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Purdue all warranted being ranked based on late-season play, big wins, and bowl wins.Well, Purdue finished #29 in the AP. I can't really argue with anybody ahead of us. Wisconsin and Minnesota both beat us at our place. Minnesota had a few clunkers, but they also beat Wisconsin.

It could take a while for the transfer market to shake out.Where do you all think we'll start next year? Top 25?
I think we start at around 25. SI has us at 24 in pre-season rankings. It is probably good for our ranking to have our QB returning. We have a known/proven player at the most important position. I would think that our defense should be at the same level.Where do you all think we'll start next year? Top 25?
Not surprised the least bit, I thought we might squeeze into 28 and pass minny but came up 3 points short. A lot of emotional posts saying we might jump into the 23-26 range but when you break it down there is no justification for passing up anyone ahead of us. Only wildcard was A&M since they cancelled their game ans was curious how voters would react, pleased to see they dropped them to 26 but hard to justify 1/4 of the big ten jumping them over that.Well, Purdue finished #29 in the AP. Just goes to show you how college football has changed. We finished the same 9-4 in 03 and weren’t we ranked like 17th?Not surprised the least bit, I thought we might squeeze into 28 and pass minny but came up 3 points short.
