Great win saturday and getting us bowl bound when the host of debbie downers thought the season was over!

To all you ledge sitters, maybe now you'll learn that every game is different, Aiden is actually a good QB and this team as a whole is growing and getting better. Na, who am I kidding if Brohm loses again you all wiil be back here from the hole you crawled in to telling us all how we should be and to go out and get Les Miles. Good thing is we all know to not take you seriously anymore.

And yes the above call out was needed based on the utter garbage that was on this forum after our losses. Take you pearls from your wife's purse and get behind this team! They have earned it!

The search function is a fun thing. Here are some gems I ran across this morning. I won't be a total ass and link them to their owners.

How do we not have a legitimate quarterback 5 years into having Brohm...

He's a legit TO waiting to happen

He's legit at throwing to the other team. That's about it.

AOC is a damn joke. Wake up.

AOC is not legit. He was a walk-on for a reason.

Unfortunately, neither Plummer or O’Connell are good enough to win 7 or 8 games for Purdue.

We don't currently have a QB that seems to be ready to win a game.

The QB play in the conference has been putrid with few exceptions. And, O' Connell is not one of those exceptions

He has his moments, but there is a reason he was only getting D3 looks out of HS.

Other than NW....and maybe the Bucket game...I don't see any other wins from what I have seen already!

He needs to stop calling plays and turn it over to someone else.

Can't develop a QB. Bad play calling esp in red zone. I've seen enough JB thanks.

Now how do you know that all of the bitching and moaning from forum football coaches didn't directly go to Brohm and push him to figure things out?

If Coach Brohm can find and use a gadget play on Youtube, then by god, you can bet he will take internet posts seriously for playcalling & personnel decisions.

END THREAD.

And a lot of credit to the offensive line as they have really improved here as of late to help Aiden.

I am forever glad that not one of us is responsible for making coaching decisions. Especially the ledge sitters as we'd have a new coach after every loss with them in charge.

I will once again fall into the OL can't be WORSE trap in the off-season. Then 3 of the 2-deeps will retire from football and we will be right back to year 0 on the OL...

Unfortunately, as I gaze into the future I see one of two outcomes as Brohm elevates the program. Either he is successful enough to get hired away by one of the big boys, or he becomes a victim of his own success. These ledge sitters as you say, instead of complaining about a 4-8 record or losing to Indinia, will simply raise the bar and now complain about losing a bowl game or not winning the Big Ten. This is what happens. People don't flip the switch and decide to enjoy the ride after progress is made, they just find new things to complain about. I can only hope that few of these people are the ones actually writing checks to Purdue.

I maintain that Brohm has gotten about as much as he can out of this offense given the state of the OL. It has been a work-in-progress and I think he has figured out a formula for this season, but without a legit run game there is very little margin for error. Number one goal of this off season has to be coming back with a stronger, healthier, experienced line.

I'll own this one:
"He needs to stop calling plays and turn it over to someone else." I'm not involved in the others, however, I still believe playcalling from Bro in booth would be best since he knows QBs tendencies best and he sees what is happening from a Vantage point CJB can't see. I've given it a break for a few weeks & will acknowledge he has called a few great games in a row. ;)

Note: Never been on any fire CJB train nor do I complain about QB play. In fact, been a fan of Aidan O'Connell since his NW debut in 2019. Want him to ditch the ball to the stands before big loss sacks though. Who doesn't want that?

I knew what this team was in a lot of ways about 4 days before the season.

what I didn’t know is that until further notice, big mauling lines full of scary dudes (aka not simply big and athletic with no chip on their shoulder) cause us trouble on both sides but particularly on offense.

We are gonna suck if we play a team that has three down linemen who can stuff the run and where Oconnell has to make throws into coverage because he knows the pressure could be coming from anywhere. So.. if Jimmy Leonard and joe Rossi clone themselves and suddenly turn our next four opponents into Wisconsin’s defense.. we are in a lot of trouble.

there is no such thing as bad Oconnell. If he faces a defense like that, THAT defense will make him play poorly because of how good they are. If he plays a defense that has any kind of finesse to it, or simply isn’t Wisconsin.. he’s gonna be good.

the point is… anyone thinking that let down city may be coming should realize we don’t play a Wisconsin again and just enjoy exciting football.

and who knows .. maybe by next year we don’t have that struggle. We are obviously gonna miss George a lot, David to a lesser extent cause we already have yaseen and rice. But i actually think we may miss KD more than people think.. but that’s next year. For now, start to worry if our bowl opponent brings 9 really big nasty linemen. If they don’t.. we will play at least okay

He likely doesn't care too much about us Knuckleheads, but you can bet that someone in the football operations is monitoring the pulse if anything to keep athletes from jumping on and posting. Does that monitoring get condensed & summed to a report? Who knows? The fans have access to his boss Mike Bobinski and that is reality so a weekly feedback report delivered on a Sunday is plausible.

On a different side note: You get an A on your sig pics. Have always liked them thru the years. Only question is where is the Purdue logo? Haha.

KD= King Doerue? He has at least 1 more year, 2 if he wants. Unless you know something..

The other big variable for this offense, besides the physicality of the opposing defense, is the weather. We've been fortunate with mild weather the last couple weeks. Having a weak run game in the Big Ten in November is a scary recipe for any QB. Hopefully the Minny game was the last of the gameday precipitation.

Dude. If I was play calling there would be no, I repeat NO kickers on my team. Those schollies would go to another couple of TE's. :)

This team has made vast improvements in the offseason and during the season. The defense has always been pretty darn good this year. The offense, not so much early on. But give credit where credit is due. Brohm and the offensive staff have worked to improve the OL and the running game, which has definitely helped the passing game.

The one thing everyone needs to be cognizant of is the impact a defensive front 7 like Wisconsin can have, as @BCfanatic2020 has stated. It doesn't appear we'll see anything like that the remainder of the regular season. But we could easily run into that in a bowl game. And that could shut the passing game down pretty quickly...

Every time I see the OL given as thee reason for no run game I wonder just what great RB we have on this team that is only struggling because of the OL. Zander is obviously not what he was before the injury. Doerue has a great running back name but hasn't excited me with his abilities. I'm not sure Wisconsin's OL could make any of our guys look good.

Brohm is sort of his own worst enemy. Going to bowls his first 2 seasons, given the tire fire he walked into, was in retrospect, a flat out miracle. He wallpapered over some gaping holes in the roster, and set himself up for impossible expectations moving forward.

Kieran Douglas .. he’s FAR exceeded my expectations after seeing him vs the beavers

Which amounts to one of my least favorite arguments on this board.. that Brohm did more with Hazell's recruits than he has with his own. Like you said he did a patch job those first couple years to get program momentum (fill the stadium, pull some upsets, get recruiting buzz), followed by a couple years of building from the ground up, and now we are seeing some fruits of a true rebuild. Some just couldn't see it. Hopefully they can see it now.

Anyone who actually followed the program CLOSELY for the last couple decades saw it. Just like they saw the slow and steady decline that preceded it.

Fortunately you didn’t pull any of my posts into this but I still maintain that while this is fun a legit quarterback would help Jeff and Purdue take the next step. Not that AOC isn’t serviceable and able to have standout games. He is and that’s good. But you can’t tell me you’d rather have him than any of the top 20 quarterbacks in college football right now. And that having one of those guys wouldn’t make Purdue a 9-10 win team versus a 7-8 win team. And that’s the dilemma. Once you hit that threshold once or twice, get that one big time quarterback to come and show you can do it at Purdue that’s when the tide really starts to turn. Because sure we won’t be Alabama or Ohio State but there’s no reason in my eyes or in reality that Purdue can’t be MSU or Penn State or Wisconsin. And that’s why I will continue to complain about our quarterbacks and O-line. But the nice thing is maybe we have one of those big time quarterbacks on the way already

Top 20 QB? When he came in the game it was cause hazell recruit sindelar was hurt and brohm’s first QB recruit got hurt. We have alaimo and Allen in the fold. I’m impressed with what brohm has gotten out of a guy with sub Joey elliott physical measurables.

He’s doing just fine with his recruits. Lots of strange injuries and you don’t really count the first year of his recruits. How do you recruit when your program looks like a Division II program? He has a ton of lineman coming in on the offensive side of the ball.
The transfer portal is something he has made noon will be an emphasis on about 50% of the recruiting that goes on moving forward.
We will reap the benefits this season of some major victories and some exciting football with the transfer portal no doubt.

But no.. the good transfers are all gonna go to Nebraska to play for a lame duck coach

If they make him a lame duck coach then that’s their problem. If you’re going to keep him, keep it long term realizing it’s your best option. He knows how to coach, it’s not like he forgot
