So apparently Kevin Wilson has been dismissed?

They have to pay the homeless in Bloomington just to try to fill their stands. Atrocious attendance. Even at the game the other day trying to become bowl eligible - the stands were only 50% full - AT MOST

Old Oaken Bucket

Purdue leads, 72–41–6
No it's not. Funny you think that but it's false.

No, what's funny is you're too naive to understand that IU brings back tons of talent. That IU has been extremely competitive playing against the likes of Ohio State and Michigan.

Purdue is a massive rebuild. There is very little talent on that roster to compete.

No coach is going to look at the Bucket Record. Purdue's senior class HAS NEVER experienced a bucket win.

You could not be more out of touch with reality.

Are you simply ignoring the fact that your team with "tons of talent" barely beat one of the worst teams Purdue has ever had? You are delusional. Prospective coaches look at Purdue and know that we've been good and can name people like Drew Brees, Joe Tiller, the cradle of quarterbacks, the den of defensive ends, etc... What are you guys known for besides fans leaving at halftime?

That ton of talent coming back is the same talent that went 6-6 this year...and purdue and IU have the same number of players coming back that have ever experienced a winning season.

A good coach could win 8 or 9 games with IUs roster. If Purdue hires Brohm and IU ends up with Allen, I will be mad. Allen is a solid DC but he's unproven as a HC.

You think the Fred Glass Big Flagpole won't be appealing to coaches? You obviously aren't tied into the college coaching community.

Tom Allen is solid. Much more stable than Wilson. I'd love to have an AHC/DC like Allen at PU.

Masters from IU, New Castle native, IN HS coach background...He's a no-brainer IMO, unless they really want to look outside.

My first reaction to this is that the firing was not planned and rather sudden. IU will likely hire from within for the replacement. Any outside candidates will wonder why Wilson was fired and wonder if it could happen to them.

Brohm=Hazell. One successful year with the other guy's recruits. If Brohm is it, it's status quo in West Laffy.
I disagree.

Hazell was 16-10 in two seasons at Kent State.

Brohm is currently 29-10 in three seasons at WKU, with a championship game and a bowl to go. If they win this weekend, he will have averaged 10 wins per season.

Therefore, Brohm > Hazell.

You could not even more wrong and/or delusional. IU is the better job.

Wow. Let's hold on a second here. This would be the equivalent of us Boilers saying a couple years ago that Purdue was the better basketball job than IU...

Let's get one thing straight. IU is the better basketball gig and Purdue is the better football gig... Period

This "power struggle" has been going on a lot longer than October. Two huge egos clashed, and the guy who signs the checks won. I've never liked Wilson as a person, but I've liked Fred Glass a whole lot less.

Why does it bother you?.....unless you want to state for the record where your two degrees come from?

Why does it bother you that the Purdue football board is discussing and stating the obvious?

It doesn't bother me at all. I get a kick out of the daily delusions. It's entertainment for me. The only thing obvious about message boards is it generally fans (of both schools) simply having pissing contests.
I take interest only because I have several friends who are Purdue grads.

I'm only interested in where he has his two degrees from in order to provide me with some context as to his opinions.

TBH, most Purdue fans are in fact Purdue grads, Purdue employees, or family members of Purdue employees. If his degrees aren't from Purdue and in fact from IU or some where else, does it matter?

I'll also say that this has been brewing since October...but honestly has been much longer than that. Those that have some sources inside the program (which I do through a round about way) is that Wilson has a well known issue of drinking (whether he got that under control is subject to discretion) and treating his players poorly through verbal, emotional, and physical abuse.

My source within the program at IU stated that it was very common for Wilson to become incredibly irate during practices and meetings. At some point, physical contact has been made between Wilson and staff/players. However, the major issue at point now is that Wilson was using abuse and intimidation against the medical staff to rush players back to the field. This is particularly troubling that the issues surrounding the most recent problems centered on concussion protocols.

As Glass said himself, it has zero to do with results because frankly Wilson has been doing an amazing job rebuilding. The issue is similar but different from Purdue. Purdue's rebuilding by Tiller was probably left at a point that was closer to Tiller's arrival rather than his peak whereas Allen is being left the program at it's peak of the rebuild to continue its' success. The question now is if the new HC has the skills to continue a rebuild, are his skills only limited to continue the success currently at, or will he lead them back to where they have traditionally been. History shows IU will more than likely drop back whereas Purdue's history likely shows a rapid peak for a period of time under a new coach with a throwing offense.

JMO....I don't see an immediate rise for Purdue like under Tiller. Very, very rare to catch lightening in a bottle twice. The conference has changed dramatically since the days of Joe Tiller. The programs that are able to withstand coaching overhauls are those that have a long consistent footing in place. A prime example would be Wisconsin going back to the days of Barry Alvarez. They have been good for 25 years and won't miss a beat with three different coaches in the last six years.
Teams like are IU Purdue, Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers have a big adjustment period with brand-new staffs.
I think this was the smartest route for IU to go and maintain some consistency and stability. They followed the Minnesota with Claeys or Purdue with Hope model.

No guarantees with any method. We certainly saw that with Lynch.

As a long-time supporter of IU, I do like this hire but he absolutely has to recruit. Allen has deep ties to Indiana high school coaches but I hope he doesn't lean too heavily on the state. That, IMO, was Bill Mallory's undoing as he relied on a lot of very borderline FBS (Div 1-A at the time) kids from the state to build around.

Best of luck in your search.
