Sindelar played on torn ACL since Northwestern.

It reminds me so much of what Marve did for us in 2012.

It took heart and guts for Sindelar to do that this year and want to do that this year. Of course, it sounded like we had a lot of players that were nicked up for this game and in this game, but they wanted to go out winners.

It shows how much these players believe in Brohm and his staff and how much these players love playing for him, Purdue and us the fans. As a Purdue alumnus and Purdue fan, I want to thank the coaches and players for a special season. The future looks bright, and I am definitely looking forward to the 2018 season! Purdue football is fun again!

I gained a new found respect for ES, I said earlier in the year I prefer Blough, but w/ his more PT, you can see he makes alot more throws conducive to this O.
I am OK doing the 2 QB thing as long as those two are around. Neither is "elite" both are good and do different things. Tough to prep for.

Spring game will probably have teams lead by: Sparks and Alstott versus Sipe and Plummer

I expect Blough to be back in April. He's pretty far ahead of schedule rehab wise from what I hear. That gives him 5.5 months to recover. That's plenty of time for an ankle dislocation. I think this Sindelar injury revelation keeps Blough around next year whereas he had graduated and had the option to play that last year anywhere. He seems like a loyal guy but if Sindelar had a lock on the job you might as well look elsewhere. Plenty of mid tier P5 teams would take a shot on Blough.

I think live reps, Blough will be held out. Just my assumption. Good to get time for other guys.

With the entire world concerned about concussion protocols and player's health, and forcing players to play injured, I have to wonder if Brohm knew as far back as the Northwestern game about Sindelar's torn ACL and still allowed him to play, if this will come back to burn Brohm? it's one thing for a player wanting to play with an injury. it's another thing for a college coach to encourage him to play with it.

I'm not being an old fuddy duddy. I'm just a person aware of many lawsuits created by players, parents, agents and doctors against forcing players to play with known injuries.

Players have been full on playing with torn ACLs forever.

They say you cannot further injure yourself and the surgery takes you out of action.

I am sure the player made the decision. Thankfully he did because we really had no backup QB.

ok. I've seen the Illinois coach get burned for not protecting players' health.

I'm familiar with the surgery and the required rehab. I had my knee scoped.

Yeah, that was my thought, too. If Sindelar appeared to have the job locked up, I could have seen Blough playing his last year elsewhere. This almost certainly brings him back. And we've seen other Purdue QBs have some success at SEC schools. But the injury obviously changes that.

Josh Chapman played a full season for the Crimson Tide in 2011. They won a National Title that season

Marve took Purdue to the Heart of Dallas Bowl on a torn ACL

Phillip Rivers played in the AFC Championship on a torn ACL

Hines Ward tore his and never had it repaired.

That’s just off the top of my head.

I fully agree with your point. But that was a few years ago. Both the "former" Michigan and Illinois coaches took a lot of heat recently for forcing their players to play through injuries and other non-healthy conditions. .

A lot of players have played with broken arms and collarbones and stress fractures So I guess it's ok.

I couldn't believe Sindelar didn't try any QB sneaks on those 4th downs. Now I know why. However, he did look a lot more mobile than he has in previous games.

As for recovery time. I believe he'll recover faster than predicted.

I know that Blough is a competitor. However, I think Blough would be back even with a healthy Sindelar knee. They seem to be very good friends and each other's biggest supporters. I don't think this is the same situation of Appleby and Etling with Sindelar and Blough.

And that's cool too. I tend to agree he was coming back no matter.

But, if it came down to it and things weren't great in April camp and say he lost the job, he could have easily jetted to a team in the fall to try and win their job.

I know people have said others have played on torn ACL, but I must say it is pretty damn remarkable ... especially considering the level of his play the last 2 months since that NW game. Even the pick last night was a throw that hit the receiver in the hands and was a tipped ball INT. His reads and throws have really improved with game experience this year.

I like Blough but I wonder if Blough would be considering to play elsewhere because the way Sindelar played on a torn ACL would IMO certainly garner enough respect from the coaching staff that it is his job when he gets back healthy and he would have to 'lose' the job with poor play in games. I know Blough had the job before his injury but he was not playing nearly as well as Sindelar. I like both QBs, but if Blough wants to play, he probably should consider other options. I think Blough is a standup guy and would probably stay as the backup tho (which is better for Purdue), but a tough way to finish his eligibility.

Read an article, can't remember where, that Brohm was going to put Eli out for the season but Eli insisted he could play with a brace. After the team trainers and doctor said it was ok, CJB let him play.
