Some good stuff in there and I like the use of analytics. But I do not see any mention of the obvious - that the post players also must be separated out of necessity. If the "big 3" were on the court together more and playing the same number of minutes, then you would have situations where only 1 of them was on the floor. Or you would have to give more minutes to IH, which may he may not be capable of. They are literally the only 3 true forwards that play meaningful minutes. Do the math.
In the end it is still sound strategy what Painter is doing, and props to him for optimizing the minutes, but the writer did a poor job not at least acknowledging the depth issue as a big part of the equation.
