Banned! Fanning the flames on what happened centuries ago is not helping to unify people in any way. Seems to be way more divisive in almost everything happening now.be taught in Middle and high school history classes? Or, should it be called CRT and banned from these schools? What say you?
First of all I do have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If the total essence of your life is concerned with the negative and nastiness of history, perhaps instead you should consider replacing that with a hope in the future with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
Same question to you, putting CRT aside for now, teaching about slavery and Jim Crow events should be removed from history class in high school? If so, why?Banned! Fanning the flames on what happened centuries ago is not helping to unify people in any way. Seems to be way more divisive in almost everything happening now.
Who is trying to take the teaching of slavery and Jim Crow out of high school curriculums? I’ve yet to see anyone advocating for that, as those are both factual aspects of history, which crt is not. CRT is not real and is a figment of losers’ imaginations. Slavery and Jim Crow were very real and should be taught.First of all I do have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Anyway, putting CRT aside for now, so you agree with these folks that want to remove teachings about slavery and the events of Jim Crow from high school history classes? If so, why?

Who is trying to take the teaching of slavery and Jim Crow out of high school curriculums? The people at these school board meetings are calling it CRT and trying to remove these and other events from the history classes because they feel that these teaching will make their kids feel bad about themselves.Who is trying to take the teaching of slavery and Jim Crow out of high school curriculums? Are you talking about the book of intelligence? I never heard of so I Googled. Didn’t have time to get a good understanding. On the surface looks like something that should be in colleges. Will take closer look at it later.Should The Bell Curve be taught in middle and high school sociology classes?
You discredit yourself the moment that you cite systemic racism as being factual. There are racial and ethnic inequities in our society in education, income, athletic performance, etc. Those inequities are not evidence of racism." . . . ramifications of systemic racism. . . "

If it not racism, then what the hell is it. Jim Crow laws that says that blacks had to count the number of jelly beans in a jar is not racism? Jim Crow laws that blacks had to sit on the back of the bus is not racism? Jim Crow laws that did not allow blacks into public schools in the south is not racism. Blacks could not attend public colleges. It is not racism that a 6 year old black girl gets spat upon trying to integrate her school? No teacher wanted to teach her except one teacher. It is not racism that the Little Rock Nine had to be escorted into the school building by the National Guard? Are you blind? What do you think drives inequities? It is plain and simple, racism. What do you think the Supreme Court case, Plessy vs Ferguson was about? Brown vs Board of Education etc. Civil Rights Act. Voting Rights Act etc.You discredit yourself the moment that you cite systemic racism as being factual. There are racial and ethnic inequities in our society in education, income, athletic performance, etc. Those inequities are not evidence of racism.
I reckon that is possible.Bruce1 said:
Your definition of CRT is from the 70's. That is not the definition in 2021. It has been hijacked just as BLM has been hijacked.
I know. That is the point of my thread.
Every single issue that you cited in your rant was something that happened 50 to 100+ years ago. Yes, that was racism. You could go back even further and include slavery before 1865.If it not racism, then what the hell is it. Jim Crow laws that says that blacks had to count the number of jelly beans in a jar is not racism? Jim Crow laws that blacks had to sit on the back of the bus is not racism? That is the point I'm trying to make in all of this. Like I said, CRT was developed in the early 70's to discuss the systemic racism, Jim Crow etc. that happened decades earlier. Even though I still think systemic racism still exist, CRT and history classes are still teaching about Jim Crow, slavery and other similar events and topics not necessarily talking about current events. The key word in all of this is history. And my question or concern is why are these parents in an uproar about teaching this history. Jim Crow, Supreme Court case and systemic racism decades ago may be the same topics talked about in CRT classes. However, bringing up those topics in high school history is not CRT even though CRT talks about those topics in a more advanced way as part of the legal system. Almost 40 years ago in high school history class, we talked about all the aforementioned topics as they were in our history books. Again, not CRT, just part of American history. Like Bruce1 says, perhaps CRT may have been hijacked by some and putting their own spin on it. CRT in it's original form is not taught in high schools.Every single issue that you cited in your rant was something that happened 50 to 100+ years ago. Yes, that was racism. You could go back even further and include slavery before 1865.
The squealing about CRT and systemic racism is about ethnic/racial inequities here and now. Asians do better than whites who do better than blacks on the math section of SAT test. That means the test is biased and that blacks score poorly because the school system is racist. There is no other possible explanation.
White people have white privilege, defined as "inherent advantages possessed by a white person on the basis of their race in a society characterized by racial inequality and injustice." If the quotas are not met, that is solid evidence of systemic racism.
Because it is not being taught as history. It is being taught as here and now factual hatred by all white people who have a legacy of white priviledge that infects them like a virus. This absurd nonsense has in fact been called the racism virus. The key word in all of this is history. And my question or concern is why are these parents in an uproar about teaching this history.
Well, whatever they are trying to teach is not CRT.Because it is not being taught as history. It is being taught as here and now factual hatred by all white people who have a legacy of white priviledge that infects them like a virus. This absurd nonsense has in fact been called the racism virus.
Cracker, you got the racism virus
Was FDR a Republican or Democrat?Well, whatever they are trying to teach is not CRT.
President FDR put Japanese Americans in internment camps for 5 years. So, we are not suppose to teach that part of American history. I don't get it.
I explained why. It’s divisive to the people what’s happed centuries ago. The country was not as divided and at each other’s throats until this stuff came up in the schools somewhat recently. You progressives should want to move forward on this not backwards.Same question to you, putting CRT aside for now, teaching about slavery and Jim Crow events should be removed from history class in high school? I readily agree. You don't get it.President FDR put Japanese Americans in internment camps for 5 years. So, we are not suppose to teach that part of American history. I don't get it.
Serious question, why is black on black crime so high if the white man is the cause for their situation? I could post FBI crime stats by race to show the disparity in crime by blacks. Instead I’m posting an article by a black man voicing this concern. And please don’t call him a Gumbo or Sambo because he has a different point of view. IMO the root cause is the break down in families of the black communities. At one time blacks had just as strong family structure as whites but that has changed for the worsebe taught in Middle and high school history classes? Or, should it be called CRT and banned from these schools? What say you?
Your statement is ignorant. If it is part of American history then it should be taught. To teach this has never has been divisive. Faux News has been perpetuating this for a couple of years now. This so called CRT fiasco all started a couple of years ago when President Chump took the FBI or some other US agency to task when they wanted to do some in-house diversity training. Chump publicly denounced them and then Faux News ran with it. Since then parents, mostly conservatives and Chumpers have gotten their draws in a bunch calling this CRT and want to remove anything that to do with slavery, Jim Crow and what ever other stuff white people have done in country was racist. Prior to a couple of years ago, no one has even heard of the term CRT including most of todays black activists and pundits. It is and always will be taught in colleges and law school as it is a very advanced topic. It is all about how racism interjects in the US legal system. Has nothing to do with Marxism, teaching black people to hate white people, teaching white people to hate themselves etc.I explained why. It’s divisive to the people what’s happed centuries ago. The country was not as divided and at each other’s throats until this stuff came up in the schools somewhat recently. You progressives should want to move forward on this not backwards.

Good points but why aren’t more black leaders talking about the break down of inner cities families? On the flip side is the Asian community who was treated more harshly during WW2 in this country but they have overcome and are thriving. I still think it has to be because of a culture that values the family structureOh no, Juan Williams is my man. I'll never call him a Gumbo/Sambo.
The aforementioned slavery, Jim Crow, systemic racism over a hundred years ago put blacks at significant disadvantage. All of that includes employment discrimination, housing discrimination, red lining which forced a lot of blacks to live in certain areas of the major cities at the time. Combine that with poverty because blacks weren't allowed to work with whites. Poverty leads to crime. Add in drug dealing to make money. Now you have gangs fighting for turf to make money. This is 60 years ago. Since them it has been a difficult struggle since then. You can argue that the welfare system setup back then had good intentions but kept people dependent. Yes, the break down in the black families in these communities is major contributing factor. Again this is nothing new. This has been going on for the past 60-70 years. After all that, move forward to the 80's. The crack epidemic hit the inner cities hard. Talk about breaking up families due to crime and murders and addition crack addicts. Y'all don't like to talk about systemic racism, but possession of for example 20 grams of crack got a more severs sentence than a white person with 200 grams. In my opinion, the current inner city crime/murders is the result of the crack epidemic back in the 80's that devastated the black community.
To channel my inner Joe Biden, if you ain't black you will not see or hear black leaders talk about this. They talk about this all the time. If you listen to black talk radio, you will hear this. Black churches have talked about this. They have been doing this for decades. I've seen many anti-violence marches. Rap groups like KRS One had songs about it. You can talk, march all you want the people in these areas have to help themselves. As long as there are gangs, single mothers, high demand for drugs, guns bought in Indiana and sold to the bangers in the Chicago for example the violence will not go away. It will take generations for this violence to go away if it does. Car jackings have been on the rise in Chicago and spilling into NW Indiana.Good points but why aren’t more black leaders talking about the break down of inner cities families? Some good points but I wish Obama, Al and Jessie would come out more forcefully in Chicago and other cities with high crime but instead they focus on cop killings that many times are justified. To channel my inner Joe Biden, if you ain't black you will not see or hear black leaders talk about this. As far as the Japanese Americans, after WW2 they seem to over come what happened to them. Not sure why but the Jim Crow laws did not seem to target them. I do not know much about the early Asian history in this country. Similar to the Irish, Italian and other immigrants at the turn of the 19th century that experienced hardships and discrimination all seem to shortly be accepted into the American culture soon enough. Not Black Americans.
If my statement is ignorant, why did people want to tear down the statues of our history? People could learn things from them including myself. Many people didn’t even know anything about them, just tear them down. So I take it people didn’t want to learn history just destroy its past. So there you have it. It’s destructive for the healing and coming together progress.Your statement is ignorant. If it is part of American history then it should be taught. To teach this has never has been divisive. So you agree that teaching CRT according to the hijacked version is wrong. Thanks. For one we agree on something.I know. That is the point of my thread.

Man, like I said you guys are outside looking in. I live in NW Indiana, all my life. I've worked and played in Chicago all my life. Chicago is Jesse Jackson's home base with his Operation Hope network. He lives on the south side of Chicago most of his adult life. He's talked and led marches for decades about the violence. Al Sharpton has been talking about and led marches for decades. He even moved into one of the housing projects for a while to see be with and show support for the people living there. Maybe my perception is based on the media coverage because I see them at funerals of blacks killed by cops but rarely ever see them at the events you referencedMan, like I said you guys are outside looking in. These cop killings aren't new either. The black community have been dealing with this for decades as well. The black community begs to differ. Most of the unarmed killings are not justified. Chicago and other big cities has a history of police brutality, hence the Marvin Gaye song "What's Goin' On'. Blacks for decades had to also deal with police coerced confessions.
That’s why I’m here to give the black person’s perspective on topics.Maybe my perception is based on the media coverage because I see them at funerals of blacks killed by cops but rarely ever see them at the events you referenced
We need more of this on both sides. Love overcomes hate every time. That’s why I’m here to give the black person’s perspective on topics.
By the way. Al Sharpton gave a eulogy of a white dude that was killed by police. His family called and asked him to be there.
It is beyond sick and beyond heartbreaking that it seems nothing can be done. We need a massive investment in schools and strengthening the social structures of poverty ridden areas. To me the biggest social problem we have is single Mom's trying to raise kids alone. This is a problem of all races. I was fortunate to have a dad at home and the one thing he taught my brother and me was we better respect our mom or else. He never hit us but we knew that line better not be crossed. When we were out in public we better not fail to open the door for a women or give her our seat. It was a simple thing to learn yet today women are just viewed as playthings. Sure there are individuals, who are racist and always will be, and you happen to be one of them. When you can learn to stop viewing life through a racial prism and just learn to deal with people on an individual basis, you'll probably get over your hostility.
