SEC Hoops

Five of the top ten are SEC, also 8 of the top 20. Big Ten has one in the top 10 and 3 in the top 20, with Mich St and Purdue squeaking in at 18 and 20.

Easily the best conference

And none make the final four…just like the Big 12, which was best conference last year.

Although, I’d be shocked if Auburn doesn’t make it. They better hope they don’t see Gonzaga before the F4 tho…

Saw where the Zags almost had a disaster at LAX. Taxying and only stop when an air traffic controller realized they were on a collision course with a Delta flight taking off.

Every top half sec team is almost all seniors/covid seniors. Probably makes a large difference. Hopefully regresses to the mean some next year
I noticed that with Auburn, they are extremely experienced.

I'm probably beating a dead horse because I post this every week it seems, but CBB talent and transfer portal selection will take a huge hit next year without the covid year.

IF they can keep roster in tact and add the right Lance Jones fit at biggest roster hole, Purdue will have timed it perfectly to have a good experienced team when compared to overall college basketball landscape.

I'm skeptical that next year will produce a more level playing field. With the spineless NCAA and the recent decision to give extra years to juco transfers, I fully expect the madness of NIL$$$ buying grown men for teams continuing. Face it, why would you ever leave school if all you had to do was play ball and collect a check. Most of these older players aren't NBA material and they can make more than if they had to go to Europe to play.

That juco ruling was wild.. I can’t predict what that will do. I also don’t fully understand why the courts hate the ncaa making rules so much. It feels like organizations are allowed to create rules in every other case.

Regardless, I am hopeful about the step back as well. No more Johni Broomes as COVID seniors.

What teams are the top half? About 2/3 to 3/4 of the team top 5 scorers are SR. There are not all senior/covid sr or even close. Ark has one SR as a top five scorer; 1 FR, 2 SO, 1 JR. Fla and Ala have mixed SR's and SO/FR. Ok, Tenn, Aub, Ky, Tx, Miss and TAM fall into the predominant SR top five scorers.

SEC has not started conf play. If they had play 1 or 2 conf games like the BIG then SEC would not dominate the rankings.

The front line for Auburn of Broome and Cardwell are fifth year Covid guys.

Other notables:

Sears, Nelson, Dickinson, Love, RJ Davis, cryer, Ike, Kalkbrenner, Johnnell Davis, kadary Richmond, Ballo (overpaid and outta shape who stays out late at bars night before games and gets benched) and I can’t forget…Gillis and Morton (😂)

Okay, I'll admit I was exaggerating some.

Arkansas does not necessarily fall into that category, although I'm not sure I put Arkansas into the top half. And one of their most prominent players, Johnell Davis, is a Covid senior.

Alabama definitely should be included as old and will regress. THREE of their starters, Sears, Omoruyi, and Nelson, are Covid seniors, and so is another key contributor in Chris Youngblood.

Florida is scary and kind of an exception, but they also have three starting seniors, including a Covid senior, that are the main contributors.
