I can't see myself buying tickets for next year if Purdue doesn't change coaches, hate to do that, but $1050 to watch team get beat , usually badly, while driving 2 1/2 hours each way, just doesn't make sense to me. Hate to do that to the group of friends I have tickets with. New coach and I will get my tickets again. How do the rest of you feel?

Well, you could do what I do and hold out for the gimmicky $98 special season tickets in North End zone - stadium is so empty you can move to pretty much any seat in the house and have access to the beer garden. But, to answer your question, I'm likely not going next year if Hazell, Shoop, and Hudson are still around.

You read my mind.If this staff returns, there is no way I will renew my tickets. While we are on this subject, why cant Hazell be fired?I know 6.6 million is a lot to pay a guy you are firing, but Ross Ade is going to be a ghost town if this staff returns. With a new coach who is energetic, charismatic, etc I believe five to ten thousand more season tickets can be sold than were sold this year,so in a few years with a successful staff, that six million plus can be made. Why keep him?

Between 2012 (Hope's last year) and 2013 (Hazell's first year), season ticket sales increased by 8,845 in part due to a VERY favorable home schedule and an energetic, charismatic coach.

So, yes, you might well get a one-year bump, but charisma only gets you so far. Maintaining that one-time increase is the hard part.

Yes,I agree with you,but we have to start somewhere.

I keep seeing the "if he gets fired." Come on!! Is there really any question after last weekend??? There is no way DH can keep these players motivated for next season let alone the end of this season.
Stop the "if's" and start talking about who the next coach is going to be!!!!!!!

I'm very doubtful for buying season tickets again, and contemplating dropping JPC after 15+ years (not just because of football losses). Driving 3 1/2 hours each way, and with the losing, my kids are to the point they'd prefer just staying home.

Might just wait until the week of a game, see how the weather will be, and go to one each fall. Or maybe come down for a basketball game. It's sad to say, but my boys will miss going to Triple XXX more than they'll miss the games.

I am trying to hold my JPC points together for the next basketball reassignment. So, if this football staff stays together I will drop my 4 tickets on the 45 and buy one ticket on the $98 special.

Dropping down to one ticket so I can still get a parking pass then will watch from our tailgate and never set foot in RA been season ticket holder for 30 years.

I used this plan this year but I am not even planning to buy the cheap seat next year unless we are under new leadership at all levels.

I enjoy going to a game or two each season. Went to the VT game this year and couldn't stand it. Purdue looked so bad it was hard to watch. If Hazell is back next season I won't be attending any games. I'm afraid the stands will be completely empty.

I went to the minnesota game and was bored out of my gourd by our uninspiring, unimaginative offense. Unfortunately, already bought tix for Nebraska because I have friends that are husker fans coming to town. Won't go to any games next year if hazell is back.

Did the same thing...doubtful for next year

I agree. Unfortunately change must happen this way. Purdue fans have been tolerant of this for far too long while the Board of Trustees runs this school into the ground with this poor example showing of football for really since the Rose Bowl, with only slight exceptions. The leadership coming out of the AD is the problem. Purdue athletics is a 70 million dollar operation and that is last in the big ten and significantly worse than IU, the closest in state similarity peer. Michigan's budget is twice Purdue's. Auburn can raise 60 million in annual gifts if the AD asks for it with the blink of an eye. Alabama has 138 million dollar surplus over 10 years, and the bigs in the big ten are easily over 20 each in surplus annually, much more than that with double the budget we have. It has been 15 years since phase 1 and Burke is finally saying oh, attendance is down 60% after 8 horrible seasons (with year on year regression in all phases). Let's do the south side of the stadium and fix that now. It's only been 15 years. Not sending the message of someone looking to win championships. Either that or students should write scathing letters to the Board of Trustees. That will get the attention it needs. Put articles in the paper. Demand action. Nobody should have to sit there and pay tens of thousands in tuition and have to watch their team on TV each and every week get embarrassed. If you are going to lose then be respectable. But when this program has gotten to the point where Hazell and this team are gleefully happy about just losing to Michigan State by a TD or less margin then it has gotten to the point where these people aren't playing for their school or to win at all. They are playing to not be embarrassed. And that is a long-term now recurring problem for the students and alumni alike.

Who was the charismatic coach between Hope and Hazell, and why haven't I ever heard of this before?

My wife and I had season tickets for 30+ years. We also have a 2 1/2 hour drive each way. We dropped our season tickets before the 2013 season when they wen 1-11. Smartest move we've made!!!! Put a good product on the field and we'll get the season tix again.

Dropped my season tickets and 2,500 level jpc 1 day after last year's iu game. 25+ year member. Will not renew or rejoin until 7-5 or 8-4 is the norm and a disappointment. Under this current setup, looks like I may never rejoin

Do any of you sit in the Club Section? Can the contract for those seats be terminated. JPC and season tix holder for BB and FB since 1988 but am seriously considering dropping FB. Any insight would be appreciated.

They need to devise a legitimate incentive to renew, or they're going to lose a lot of patrons like those posting here.

I am OK buying tickets, but as a business decision it is awful as there are ways to get in for a few bucks... without ND we won't have a desirable home game. EKU will be band day or something so the stadium wont look too bad. Cincinnati and Nevada are ok NC opponents but won't travel. Northwestern will bring 50 fans. Iowa, Wisconsin, and Penn State will outnumber our fans, but it still won't top 45,000 total attendance. I feel like a mope dropping a G for 4 tickets, then hear people go on Stubhub for $4. You can sit wherever you want. The thing now is I cannot even give tickets away to people if I cannot go. Luckily Big Brother/Big Sisters Lafayette is always happy to take them.

If you think the attendance figures for this year are bad, wait until 2016!

We will not be buying the 4 seats we have since Tiller was still coach. We used to take one of the better games like Ohio State or Michigan and donate them to a charity auction each year but it's embarrassing doing that now. Can't even give the tickets away.

12 people here at work with Purdue degrees or currently attending and no one even wants to go.

Same thing where I work. Guys with season tix sending out mass emails trying to give them away. Very sad.

Maybe those stadium butt pillows would sell some seats.

Here's the ad:

Does your butt get really numb during the Purdue games? We understand that problem. Ours do too.

Well the Purdue Ticket Office has the solution. They're called cool/hot Boiler Butt pads.
That's right, they can be put in the microwave when it's cold and in the freezer when it's hot. And they're free with your full access football season ticket purchase of $1050. That's right a $29.95 gift is yours free just for buying a season ticket.

No more embarrassing sweat butt marks after a Purdue loss when it's 102 degrees. Or do you suffer from hemorrhoidal flare-ups when the weather is cold? The Purdue Boiler Butt pad will solve that problem even during blow-out losses. No more itchy butt holes even in the most lopsided, long, grueling games.

So call now, both of our phone representatives are available for your calls. Have your credit card ready. Our office is opened from 10 am to 2 pm each day (except during the lunch hour).

BUT Wait, if you call in the next hour, your pad will be signed by the whole coaching staff. But this offer will not last. Get them before they're gone (the staff).

Your butt will thank you.

Happy Wednesday.

To the Original Poster's question: Absolutely I'll be there next year! During my years at Purdue (31 as a professor, plus 4 as an undergrad) I have had only a few football players in my classes, but I have had the opportunity to teach some number of student athletes in our various sports programs. I see that these young people work so hard (in many cases, even more than their classmates!). The hours they put in, in the classroom, in the training room, and on the practice field, are off the scale. I AM A BOILERMAKER, how could I do less? These students are going to get my ultimate dedication and support: the very best I can bring to bear in the lecture hall, in my office (at any hour) for individual help, and, in the very smallest demands on my time and resources, supporting them on the playing field. Absolutely, I'll be there next week, next season (and in my office with the door open every single day between now and then)!

same for me. I can't give tickets away.
I used to get so mad at our fair weather fans but I can't even blame them any more. But I am not giving any of those thin skinned folks my bball tickets either :)

I think next year I am getting rid of my 2 prime seats and getting 4 north end zone seats. I can get twice the tickets for half the price. Then if I can't/ don't want to go I am not out that much. Plus my second tax deduction ( child as some people call them) will be old enough to go next year. I feel stupid paying $55 for my 4 year old daughter to sit through a game. If I didn't have season tickets I could get her in for $5.

Kudos to you Wheels of Steel for a well chosen life path.
I had several instructors like you at both Purdue and law school but wish that I would have had many more.

I am in the middle of 'Month 37' for ZERO MONEY for Purdue athletics because I decided back then that as long as these FOURTH-RATE AMATEURS are DESTROYING Purdue athletic programs, they will not see me or a thin dime from me until this CANCER is cut out! I have rightfully maintained that stance, and I will continue to do so; my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

I implore all "reasonable" and KNOWLEDGEABLE Purdue alumni and fans to do the same because these arrogant, dismissive FOOLS have only ignored us for far too long; and now, all we have to show for it is catastrophic failure.
It's way past time for accountability here, but by gosh, we have to demand it! I received a letter from the Purdue Alumni Association a few days ago with the tag line "Loyalty Lives Here"... well, I have news for everyone: IT'S TIME FOR "TOUGH LOVE" TO RULE THE ROOST!!
