The Boilers track record is to win in some fashion against a worthy opponent only to come out flat the following game against a lesser opponent. Playing to the level of the opponent.

I do hope to beat Wisky this weekend, for many reasons already shared, but if that means we come out flat against IU, a considerably less opponent, then that would be problematic.

Here is to the Boilers finishing strong, that the Hoosiers never taste victory under CJB, and hey move on to prepare for a bowl victory.

Personally I think we need to beat UW because by the time the IU game is around, the rumor mill will likely be even worse and even more of a distraction. I can see us dropping the next two because of all of the crap going on.

It's sorta why I have jumped on the boat of I wish Brohm would just say one way or another and not drag it out and potentially make things worse for the rest of the team. I get why he isn't but things are getting a tad out of hand and it HAS to be impacting the team some.

The wildcard for the Bucket game is Markell. Last year he went off for 217 yards on 31 carries (7 yards per touch). I don't know who insulted him or his sister down there, but he LIKES running against them. I look for him to have another big game as his final against the in state rivals.

Unless Purdue loses the turnover battle by 2 or 3, the Boilers win this by 2 touchdowns. Or more.

Conspiracy theory time:

Big ten orders refs to assist Purdue in beating already bowl eligible Wisconsin this week

Then next week orders refs to assist IU in beating Purdue to get them bowl eligible

TIC
Haha. Yeah, more likely it just follows our 2018 pattern of getting up for the big games, followed by a letdown to a patsy. But at least we would break the Wisconsin streak, get bowl eligibility out of the way, and give Brohm another shining moment in front of the home crowd.

In a strange way, if I knew Purdue was going to go 1-1 over the last two games, I'd almost take a loss to Wisconsin and a bucket win. It would probably damage our bowl selection, but we'd get to rip IU's heart out again and prevent them from going to a bowl.

Don't get me wrong...I'm hoping for a win on Saturday and beating Wisconsin would be big for a number of reasons, but I'd hate to see a letdown the following week against a desperate IU team and give them the satisfaction of becoming bowl eligible at our expense.

I was going to post something similar in that the BIG10 higher ups would love this, we lay an egg vs Minny to help them, then we beat Wisky, then lose to iu to get them bowl elligible. Really I'm looking to see how our team comes this week, if they are lethargic like last week, then I'll side w/ some posters who think there was a leak of info last week and the coaches have lost the team.

I was one of those posters. I wouldn't say lost the team at all, just players disappointed at the news at that time. For all we know, there can be some coach discussion with players and asking them to respect the overall privacy of the business and to keep any & all news internal from this point forward. Others have suggested this the gamesmanship to a better payday + keeping Purdue's name relevant in both the Football Sports world & recruits heads. Hell, I can see all of these variables in play and why not?

lost the team is on me, looks like they were just going thru the motions and in a game that meant something.

Look at the weather. We do lousy every time there is precipitation. Pray for no rain or snow!

"I don't think we responded well to the fumble that went for six... they came out and broke two runs, and I felt like we kind of gave up after that. I don't think the weather made us play any better either."

Hard to hear these words, very frustrating that guys gave up and were mentally affected by the weather, but confirmation of what my eyes saw on Saturday. We weren't the same defense in the first half without JT, but we were good enough on D if our offense was clicking. After the fumble 6 they absolutely mailed it in.

Need to get off to a good start this week!

I am away for vacation the next two weeks so will throw out my predictions for n two games.

Purdue 28 Wisky 24...….strong defense hold Wisky stagnant until late but we do enough to win but close at end.

Purdue 37 IU 31 No way Jones or Knox let this one get away and both run for 150+ yards each and 2 rushing TD's (1 each) .

Blough throws 3 TD's to Moore, Hopkins and Knox......

Boiler Up!
