The last living member of the original Hogan's Heroes cast. He was born a French Jew and spent 31 months in concentration camps, including Buchenwald. He was the only member of his family (of 14) to survive. Interesting cast. Werner Klemperer (Klink), John Banner (Schultz), and Leon Askin ( Burkhalter) were all Austrian born Jews who barely got out. Klemperer would only play a Nazi if it made them look bad. IIRC he played one of the "just following orders" officers in Trial at Nuremburg. Anyway, what a life story of a life well lived.
