Had the pleasure of getting to know Don in his older years. Always enjoyed our chats about old time Region sports.

A native and lifelong Hammond resident, he graduated from Bishop Noll in ‘48. He played Fullback and LB in ‘49-‘51 for the Boilers. He was on the team and awarded the game ball in the historic 1950 upset of ND, breaking some long win streak the Irish had going under Leahy. He was drafted in ‘52 by the Chicago Cardinals, but fulfilled his ROTC requirement to Uncle Sam and didn’t get to play in the NFL.

RIP Don!! You will be missed.

His son Don was in my 79 class at Noll. Quite a full and impressive life his Dad had. RIP
