After a massive weekend of visitors, Boiler Upload dives into it all things Purdue football recruiting:

Purdue Lands In-State Offensive Lineman

Ryan Walters and the Boilermakers landed their second commitment in the 2024 recruiting class with Jordan King. The Fort Wayne native is a three-star offensive guard who plays for Fort Wayne North Side High School.

Boiler Upload listed King as a potential commitment to watch heading into the weekend, and he made that true with his pledge to the Boilermakers. King was viewed as a high-priority target and one that Purdue was in the driver's seat for since he was extended an offer in January.

Boilermakers Pursuing Big Ten West Defensive Back:

Since Ryan Walters took over in December, Purdue has been active in the transfer portal, especially on the defensive side of the ball. That trend continued as the Boilermakers offered former Western Kentucky and Minnesota defensive back Beanie Bishop in the transfer portal on Tuesday.

Update On Marcos Davila:

Last week, I wrote about Marcos Davila and his upcoming visit to West Lafayette. After de-committing from TCU, Purdue and Graham Harrell emerged as a top landing spot for the four-star quarterback. Davila was viewed as a potential commitment as soon as this weekend, but that is no longer the case.

Per Nick Harris of Rivals, Davila will not be committing to a new school anytime soon. The Texas native is planning several more visits throughout the spring. In addition to Purdue, Miami (FL) and Colorado have emerged as potential suitors for Davila at this point in his recruitment. More schools could also enter the mix, but those are the three front-runners at this point. Following a series of visits, Davila will wait until the end of summer or early fall before making a final decision.

More Names To Keep An Eye On:

In-state athlete Jo'Ziah Edmond has emerged as another name to watch as a potential commitment. The three-star prospect plays for Northwood High School in Nappanee, Indiana, and is an electric two-way player. Edmond is primarily being recruited as a cornerback but is also a standout as a wide receiver. In January, he won the wide receiver MVP award at the FBU National Combine.

The top two uncommitted players from Indiana in the 2024 recruiting class visited West Lafayette for the second time in 2023. Fort Wayne's Brauntae Johnson and New Haven's
Mylan Graham were the two most high-profile attendees over the weekend.

Graham and Johnson are ranked 39th and 56th overall in the class of 2024, respectively, and are high-priority prospects for Cory Patterson. Purdue will have to contend with the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and others to land commitments. Still, the four-star recruits have shown interest in the Boilermakers thus far in their recruiting processes.

Johnson's teammate, Jordan King, committed to Purdue last night and will likely be recruited by his fellow Fort Wayne product to come to West Lafayette.

Graham also connected with four-star quarterback target Marcos Davila during the photo shoot portion of the visit. (Photo via Davila’s Instagram)

East St. Louis native LeonTre Bradford came to campus for the first time in his recruitment but walked away impressed by the Boilermakers' staff. Bradford told Boiler Upload that one of the biggest attractions to Purdue is the prior success of defensive backs under Ryan Walters. Next month, three defensive backs will be drafted from Walters' defense from last season at Illinois.

Demeco Kennedy's interest in Purdue as a potential landing spot has picked up recently, and he took an unofficial visit to campus over the weekend. The three-star prospect from Lexington, Kentucky, was initially thought to be recruited as an offensive lineman, but he has told Boiler Upload that Purdue is pursuing him as a defensive lineman instead.

The Frederick Douglass product had the chance to meet with defensive line coach Brick Haley and assistant Preston Gordon. Kennedy knew Gordon from his time on staff at Illinois and has formed a good relationship with one of Purdue's newest staffers.

In December, Purdue signed Kennedy's former teammate, Jamarrion Harkless, on National Signing Day. Kennedy shared that he is in constant contact with Harkless about his experience with the Boilermakers. Those two connections could lure the 265-pound lineman to West Lafayette.
