Last year at this time we were 11-7 with basically the same players. This year 15-3. I'm happy with the improvement.

Also last year at this time we were on the outside looking in as far as the NCAA tournament goes. As for this year, we were down to a #5 seed in the latest bracketology which was after the Illinois loss.
And we have the opportunity to improve that seed in the dance - I'd take a 3 seed. Unless we win out or come close to it plus win the B1GT, I think we're out of the running for a 1 seed.
Yea a #1 probably won't happen. A #3 seed seems like a good goal as things stand right now. So much depends on what the teams ahead of us do too.
I know it's disappointing the way we played in the 3 losses. Remember though the 09-10 team that started 14-0 and beat 2 top ten teams proceeded to drop 3 straight they should have won. They then went on to win 10 in a row including wins at OSU and at MSU and rolling until the Hummel thing. I know we don't have the Big 3 and Kramer but have overal more talent and 15-3 is real good. I hope these guys have same intestinal fortitude the 09-10 team did

Big difference in the 09-10 was the part where they beat 2 top ten teams. This years team hasn't shown that ceiling yet. Hope they do, but haven't yet.
I'm happy with the current record also. I also notice that this group seems to slump just before or just after the holidays. Once they figure out how to deal with the hyper aggressive swarming interior D approach employed by Iowa, butler, and Illinois they will get on a roll. Vince showed how it is done against PSU...hit some open threes then mix in drives. The d is out of position when it collapses on the bigs and will foul a strong driver.
Feb will tell the story for this team. Hope the problems get ironed out in the next two weeks and Biggie finally figures out his TO problems. If not, that month could be really really ugly.
I am ok if we end up on the 3 line. I would really like to avoid the stupid 4/5 game but we are a long way away from the tourney. It is going to be such a messy tourney. I keep saying it's a Uconn kind of year! They always seem to win the garbage tournaments where the entire bracket collapses. We could win a garbage tourney with this team.
Indeed, this is a very good team. I still think these last few games are just a mild slump, and the team will rebound and play the way it was back in December. It is my sincere hope that they will be playing their best in March. This is the best shot Purdue has had at a Final Four since 2009-10.
I'd be thrilled with a 3 seed at this point. The thing with the UConn analogy is that they had very good guard play, which is what almost always wins in March. We don't have great guard play or a go to guy, which could really hurt us in some of the tougher games.
