I'm still trying to figure this out:
Is it
1) His commitment to eliminating fraud, abuse and unnecessary spending in the Fed Govt? Explain why this is bad.

2) His tariff policy: Why are people mad that he's trying to level the playing field for US companies abroad and to get other countries to allow US companies fair access to their markets? One would think this would be good for US workers and the economy.

3) His deportation of illegal immigrants? If someone broke our laws to come here illegally, why shouldn't they're be consequences and not the US taxpayer responsibility?

4) Eliminating boys from playing girls sports? That's just common sense.

5) Broad based tax cuts on individuals and corporations: Who doesn't want more money in their pocket?

6) Helping to negotiate an end to the Russia/Ukraine war: why is this bad?

7) Taking a hard line on Iran, Hamas and our other enemies in the Mid East?

It seems like all of his initiatives are in the best interest of American citizens.

I thought the Ukraine war was supposed to end on day one.

The Chunp tariff policy is one of the most jacked up policies that I have seen. Both conservative and progressive real economists have always said that it doesn't work. And it ain't working. Living in the greatest steel making area in the US, I was hoping that it was going to work back in 2017, but they didn't. It caused a tariff war then, and it is causing a tariff war now.

So, a couple of questions:
1) Do you agree or disagree that our trade policies with other countries, particularly China, prior to Trump getting involved, were fair for the US consumer/producer?

2) Do you think giving China access to the US steel market and the ability to dump steel and drive down prices in the US, while at the same time, restricting US producers to the China market hurts or helps the US steel producers?

3) If the Trump tariffs have the desired effect, which means better trade terms for the US, and we see that impact in economic growth and in the stock market, will you agree that the Trump plan was a success?

4) How confident are you (give me a %) that the Trump tariff plan is and will be a failure that will destroy the US economy and drive us into a recession?

Yes, I agree that the trade policies are jacked up. Been like that for decades. The current trade policy with US, Canada, and Mexico was agreed and signed by Chump during his last go around.

Again, living in NW Indiana and working in and out of steel mills for over 30 years, I'm well familiar with the China and Russia steel dumping in the US. Always hurts the US steel producer. I agreed with the Chump tariffs in 2017, but I was wrong, as it turned out to be a tariff war, and American farmers took the brunt of it through the China retaliatory tariffs. I've also been in the paper industry, where the same thing is happening. Seems like the 10% or whatever it was tariff on Chinese steel back in the 2000s by Bush the Younger seemed to help. Did not cause a trade war. If I recall.

Yeah, if it does work I'll be happy as I am not rooting that it doesn't work. I just know that it ain't going to work. And it's not working. This bad idea has caused all kinds of chaos.

I'm 90% confident that this policy is not going to work.

If he were committed to eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse, he'd stop giving Elon contracts. He's gutting agencies that are doing important work without actually doing thorough audits. But, guess what, the government already has auditors who review programs and find ways to cut waste. My dad did that work for forty years and saved the government millions of dollars.

He appointed an incompetent HHS secretary who is going to get lots of. people killed.

He's not just deporting people who are undocumented. He is deporting refugees and others who are here legally and who haven't committed crimes. He has stated that he has the right to deport US citizens even. ICE is rounding up people who have made statements they disagree with. Even if there was evidence that someone committed a crime, they are entitled to due process. Trump's ICE is violating that.

There are six transgender athletes playing cllege sports out of over 100,000 ttal athletes. None had an impact on any major college competitions. That's unlikely to change. It's a non-issue. Its also an attempt to scapegoat a tiny sliver of the population.

His tax cuts will only help high-income earners, like people making over $300,000 a year. That's not going to help most people. It might help me, but only marginally.

His attempts to negotiate a peace settlement in the Russia/Ukraine war are one-sided, and he didn't even involve Ukraine (the country that was invaded) in the negotiations.

Hope that helps.

He ran largely on lowering prices and is now proceeding to take actions that will assuredly raise them for the long haul, all the while we have countries like Canada video taping themselves mocking Trump as they sign bills reducing imports from America.

What he is doing is only going to hurt American’s day-to-day with these economic policies. Good luck in the midterms.

I've seen the light. I love Donald J Trump. I hope he ruins all your boomer investments. It's time to rebuild. I'm serious. The worst generation can get f'd.

Look, everything that Trump has done has been an overwhelming success. His tariff policy obviously is going to take some time to play out. Your declaration that "it ain't working" is just more TDS hate. Let's see what happens in the next few months.

In the meantime, aren't you delighted with no more illegals, less government fraud and waste, an end to transgender nonsense, stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons, etc.?

You might add #8, giving the NATO laggards a hearty kick in the gluteals.

This is false, and makes you look extremely ignorant and no more than a leftist media unthinking sheep drone willing to repeat lies you hear.

No tax on tips, no tax on SS and overtime which is a centerpiece of his tax strategy help the poor and middle class the MOST.

As far as extending the tax cuts that helps ALL classes as per enclosure.....

#9, 10, and 11 are the curtailing of fentanyl, the ousting of China from the Panama Canal, and the blasting of the Houthis to retake the Red Sea. I am not sure of the progress, but since the Sunday Morning News shows did not mention them, I will assume it is good news.

Do you have links to show those things have actually happened lol?

Does it not bother you that Trump still can't admit he lost the 2020 election? If Harris had won, do you think man-baby Trump would have conceded graciously like the Democrats. I think we both know the answer to that.

So, you're trusting the govt to audit itself? Thank your dad for his govt service, but saving millions over 40 years, while better than nothing, isn't a huge achievement. DOGE is saving Billions in only a few months.
He appointed an incompetent HHS secretary who is going to get lots of. people killed.
How exactly will he get people killed?
He's not just deporting people who are undocumented. He is deporting refugees and others who are here legally and who haven't committed crimes. If you want to claim refugee status, there's a process for that. Crossing our border illegally aint it. And if it were that simple, why doesn't every illegal alien claim their a refugee?

If it's only 5 trans athletes, then no big deal. Simply tell them "Sorry, you can't play." After all, you're only hurting the feelings of 6 people. Not a big deal and a non-issue. So, if I'm hearing you correctly, banning those 6 athletes from competing is an easy fix.

His tax cuts for corporations, small business owners, reduction in regulations, etc will drive investment/expansion, hiring,
His attempts to negotiate a peace settlement in the Russia/Ukraine war are one-sided, and he didn't even involve Ukraine (the country that was invaded) in the negotiations.
I don't really care about Ukraine. They're not a NATO country. We shouldn't be funding their defense. Let their Euro neighbors do that. Not the American taxpayer.
Hope that helps.

No. Doesn't bother me. Not even a little. In fact, until you mentioned it, I hadn't even thought about it.

I am so completely sick and tired of this "TDS" bullsh!t every time someone points out something factually awful about Trump.

It's not deranged to point out the sliding economy largely created by nonsensical tariffs, many of them on allies and to be paid by the American consumer.

It's not deranged to point out the horrendous appointments of amateurs, political hacks, and conspiracy theorists at a rate and level never seen before.

You know what IS DERANGED? To support Trump and his worst instincts and limitations.

So it turns out that YOU, and the other Trump cultists are the ones with this so called "TDS."

Do you think the economy is in a good place right now?

And if so, is it now the republican position that the stock market does not indicate whether the economy is in a good place? Or is this a good stock market for republicans now?

Also, just to get ahead of it, before we start seeing any effects of the tariffs, are inflation and unemployment indicators of whether the economy is in a good place?

I have been invested in the stock market for over 40 years. When the market is down, you ride it out. The only people who will get hurt are those that panic and sell. What we have right now is actually an excellent time to buy.

The economy is not the same as the stock market. Right now, the market sucks.

I think you meant economy in a good place. No, a falling stock market is not good for either party, especially the one in power.

Inflation and unemployment are lagging indicators but are used to make predictions.

I don't like what's happening in the market at all. It sucks, I wish it were different, But, I'm going to trust the process and believe that Trump and his team know what they're doing. It takes time. I believe this short term pain will result in long term gain.

But it is hypocritical unless you can point to where you pointed out the vast array of amateurs, hacks (starting with the Vice Puppet) and conspiracy theorists of the Biden administration.

I don't think you can point to such posts, although it is difficult to keep track of all the posts under your various usernames, KatJM23HoFanBMW.

Wow -- some of the true TDS Trump cult believers actually posted (repeatedly) that Biden was a giant wuss-bag because he did nothing to stop the war in Ukraine other than empty threats of telling Putin to cut it out.

And Trump clearly stated that he would stop that war on his first day in office.

It's been over three months and Trump has arrived at the strategy of a social media 'I'm disappointed' post:

“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post, after Russia launched what was one of the most damaging attacks on a major Ukrainian city since it invaded its neighbor more than three years ago.

“Not necessary, and very bad timing,” Trump wrote. “Vladimir, STOP!”

I suppose that Trump's consequences for Putin is that he didn't literally say "Please" to his hero Vlad. Next time Trump is gonna get really serious and social media post this with TWO exclamation points.

Point to some of those repeated posts because I do not recall any.

Not gonna do a search of the whole forum.

The points are that:
  • Putin is a murderous dictator
  • The real world is far more complex than Trump or his cultists are willing to admit
  • Trump insulting allies and sucking off dictators has a long-term negative effect
  • Trump is a hack amateur who now has to sh!t-post a plea to Vlad to please be nice, as Trump's only current solution
The point is not whether you are able to task someone to be your research aide - figure it out for yourself.

The stock market and economy have been detached for some time. Jobs have stayed relatively stable. Yes unemployment went up a little, but there are a number of factors that could be the reason why. What we do know is that payrolls have increased by 228,000.

Are you saying that you never criticized Biden for being soft or deferential to Putin the murderer?

I am saying you made up this statement, "some of the true TDS Trump cult believers actually posted (repeatedly) that Biden was a giant wuss-bag because he did nothing to stop the war in Ukraine other than empty threats of telling Putin to cut it out. "

I recall criticizing Biden irt Ukraine for being incompetent and for being a toady of the defense industry, but not for being soft or deferential to Putin.

Fair, so what metric should we use to judge success here? And when?

I am looking for a measure of success that we can all agree to instead of just pointing fingers. Quixote and Riveting agreed to the stock market and inflation, but wondering if you think it's something else.
