and wanting Burke to fire him on the spot, and if not then Burke should be fired?

My how a couple of months can turn one's opinion around about a coach.

Congrats to the staff, the players, and the administration for a year on what many were predicting would a be a disaster.

Here's hoping that they all return next year (those that can), and a B10 title is won.

The last two games weren't the wins wanted, but they showed the grit this team has, and after the beat the Illini I wouldn't want to face them in the NCAA tourney.

Re: I still am not completely sold on MP...

I really think he needs some big recruiting success to get to the point where he is earning the 2.3mm we are paying him. If he can't get a few top 25 recruits we will never get back to the GK level nor ever get to the final four.

Re: I still am not completely sold on MP...

Let me know the last top 25 recruit we had that was a solid contributor. And then how many Big Ten Championships we've won since, including with GK.

Purdue's also going to finish higher in the Big Ten than what Matt Painter's salary is ranked in the Big Ten.

HaHa DrEss. This should have been posted after a Purdue win against Illini. If Purdue loses at home with trip to NCAA on the line. It would be a giant step back for the gains made this season. Purdue needs some experience in the tournament.

What is Painter 5th? Not sure.

Re: I still am not completely sold on MP...

Not so recent big time recruits would be Geralds, Rayburn, Lawless, in WB, Stu, Ray Edwards, Pollard in FB, Cornell, Mike Robinson in MB. None at that level in the last ten years in any revenue sports which to me is an indictment against the athletic dept. Either they have tightened up the recruiting budget to where it doesn't work or they are hiring pp recruiting coaches.

Re: I still am not completely sold on MP...

It's hard to keep track of these since salaries typically elevate throughout a contract (start low, work higher).

Painter is 100% behind:

Izzo
Matta
Crean
Beilein

I believe he is right at or behind:
Bo Ryan
Mark Turgeon

However, it should be noted that from Beilein (4th highest paid) to about 10th - there's only about a $400,000-$500,000 difference. Which obviously sounds like a lot, but in the grand scheme of things, is not a huge difference (vs. a Crean who is paid nearly $1 million more than the next highest paid, Beilein).

To be fair to Painter as well, he's accomplished more (and quite honestly, significantly more) at Purdue than: Turgeon (Maryland), McCaffrey (Iowa), Miles (Nebraska), Groce (Illinois), Pitino (Minnesota), Chambers (Penn State), Collins (Nebraska) and Jordan (Rutgers).

He should be paid more than those coaches.

(not to mention he's paid just a bit more than Hazell is, who's literally won a few games at Purdue)
