Teams no longer play every team twice which has resulted in unequal schedules which means that honor is less meaningful or meaningless. Thoughts?

No ! Big 10 champs will always be big 10 champs. You get to hang a banner and count it toward championships won. Both Championships are important.

Meaningless? of course the title matters. Ranking matters. Num of stars matters. Actually, most of the things matter.

You guys really need to start thinking as a person who is not/has not been a Purdue fan. Pretend you live in California or New York and think Purdue is somehow related to the chicken farm but not an university. Go study advertising 101 or Sales 101 classes if it helps.

It matters but has been cheapened so to say. I used to hate the big tournament now I'm glad we have it.

Things have changed so much let's just enjoy what we have .

IMO: the regular season title really does matter. We criticized Indiana for playing a (relatively) soft league slate last year, but nobody will remember that 10 or 20 years from now. They won the league. That's what goes in the record books. That's what people will remember.

I do think the B1G tournament has taken on added significance in recent years, so...

BOILER UP AND WIN BOTH!!!!!

This. We still want to win it but I don't think it's necessarily as reliable an indicator of the relative strengths of the teams as it used to be. Not meaningless. Just less meaningful.

Counting the BTT champ as the one true champ takes too much significance out of the regular season.

Counting the regular season champ as the true champ takes the significance out of the BTT.

If it were all about simply crowning the best team, I'd say only the top 4 teams get to play in the BTT with the winner being the one true champ. Or top 5 with the regular season champ getting a bye to the final. Or top 6 with the 2 teams getting a bye to the semi-final. The problem is it is all about money and you're not going to make nearly as much of it on 3-4 games as on 13 games.

So I say for now each one is worth a half.

B1G season titles & BTT titles are nice. They are like regional titles remembered mostly by people in B1G country. What the rest of the country remember is how you do in the national (NCAA) tournament. We need to shine on the national stage, if we are going to consistently get the Biggie, Langford etc. No more excues. Let's get it done...

In fairness, no one regularly gets a Biggie. Players with his stats come along about once every 10 years.
