Hoopgurlz (ESPN) was the only site that I know of that rated the incoming PU WBB recruiting class in the top 10. They rate it 9. Other services that I've seen don't even rate it in the top 25. So what does that tell you? I am very skeptical about this incoming class. Murphy who is the highly regarded PG suffered an ACL injury recently and who knows how that will play out.
We can also bank on at least one or more of the recruits transferring at some point and if this last season is any barometer, they probably won't get much playing time next season.
I don't get why Sharon didn't play the current freshmen a lot more. The few games I watched Purdue was always behind by more than 20 points but Sharon stuck with her upperclassmen, why not give the young players experience and playing time at that point? I found myself shouting at the TV to play the young players a lot more!
Just was a really frustrating season to watch as a Purdue WBB fan. I am not a fan of SV and while some may think this incoming recruiting class is the best thing since sliced bread, I really have doubts how special it really is.
Only time will tell.
The one positive thing that I can see,, this program will now have some depth in the post. That's something we haven't experienced in seemingly decades with this Purdue WBB program. Depth and height in the post. Will SV know how to teach these tall young ladies how to play and dominate in the post. Will this team become a post oriented team now? Something that we have never seen under SV. With the lack of shooters, and all of this height, this may be a new era for the WBB program.
Boiler Up!
