Recruiting factoids

Agree. Purdue had some success getting players from PA when Hope was here as Gibboney had connections from his days at Pitt.

I was just about to type something to this effect. When did losing to iu and central michigan become progress? His recruiting classes have been horrendous so far. I'm a pretty positive guy but you have to look REALLY hard to find a silver lining.

I first read it as 11 of our 12 total signees are from state of Purdue.

It now makes a little more sense if it means 11 of the 12 targeted players from the state of Purdue ended up signing.

However, the more states that are considered constituents of "state of Purdue", the more likely the 12 is a mistake.

Even if "state of Purdue" was just a weird way of saying Indiana, would this be an impressive stat? Because given the quality of talent in this class, I would say if that if they got 11 of the 12 they targeted, perhaps they set the bar too low and need to target better players.

It's obviously a confusing statement, and I'm pretty sure it's a meaningless one as well.

I'd be interested in knowing where our 25 signees ranked among the 3000+ players the coaching staff evaluated.

I'm not trying to flame on the staff here. I just think it would be interesting to know if the staff signed the kids they thought were really in the best position to help the program. If not, how far down the list did they have to go before they started finding kids who said yes.

I just want to get a sense of the 3000+ guys they looked at, how many of the ones they really wanted chose Purdue.

Re: If anybody wants to make themselves feel smarter...

just read this thread. The nitpicking and obsession about this is hilarious.

There as A. a typo and B. a recruiting philosophy that has spurred almost a full page of debate.

Jesus, I have lost faith in humanity....and our fan base.

Didn't want to start a new thread about this, but can anyone give me any info about the signing period timing? I ask because I'm curious with what is going on with Turner, and I believe there is some rule about signing day actually being an early signing period? I thought I read that he only has 2 weeks from NSD to sign before it goes to a dead period or something? Anyone know the rules about what is going on now and what we can and can't do about signings? I know there was a question raised to both Hazell and Parker regarding more possible additions but they couldn't talk to much about that.
