When we spoke with Gelen Robinson Wednesday, he was very honest, clearly regretful of his actions from June. He really is a good-hearted kid. Hope he stays on the right path from here on out.
Oh and didn't get this quote in the story but wanted to share. From his mom, Shantelle Clay-Erving, when I asked her about how difficult the phone call was for him/her after his arrest. I've spoken to her several times and talked to Gelen about her several times, as well, and this pretty much sums it up.
"He didn’t call me when he was in jail. I wasn’t his first call, which I had to think about, ‘Hmm, I wasn’t his first call?’ I don’t know if that hurt or not. But I think he had enough sense to know that I probably would have been in that jail cell next to him for coming in there and knocking his head off if I went. So I think he made a smart decision with that one."
