Do you think our top 15 ranking (if it continues) will help with the 2017 recruiting? I think this recognition will hopefully help get the young kids excited about committing to Purdue.

It could definitely benefit. Kids want to play for a winner and we're getting a lot of love right now. If the team keeps it up, it could help a bunch in securing a couple of our top 2016 targets.
All our top 2016 targets are off the board now...

People tend not to look too into the future when it comes to these types of things. You look at Purdue right now and there's not a lot of playing time to be had. It's not too different than when Hummel/Moore/Johnson were there - 3 different positions, 3 solidified starting spots for four years.

It's a tough sell, even though obviously by then there will be spots for them, but they may have to wait a year or 2.

The most daydreamed scenario for most 17 year old kids is hitting that buzzer beater on the biggest stage. If Purdue can offer that big stage, then it definitely helps recruiting. Even more so if we are that hometown school just an hour or two from family and friends that can witness from the stands.

It helps but nothing effects recruiting as much as potential playing time which we will have . I follow recruiting faithfully kids come in different levels . The shoe company kids or top 25 they want to go where other top 25 are or have played . If your program has NBA scouts around it they benefit . This is why you see them stick together its a business decision . 25 to 100 its about playing time and exposure . This is where being ranked can and does effect recruiting the most IMO . Sports Center covers the top 25 teams only . IMO this is the break thru season coaches and fans dream about . We have a coach that is stable 11th year vetted assistants . Four players the scouts are tracking Haas , Hammons , Swanigan and Edwards . Three of them were top 25 to 100 range recruits . Makes you a viable option for the kids you want in the 2017 class . It's hard to say which hurt us more the last time we were this good Robbie's knee or Painter considering Missouri . If two of the four can stick in the NBA we will benefit from that for a longer period of time . Look at the AAU and HS coaches the players we are recruiting play for . Painter and his staff have long term relationships with them . IMO from a recruiting stand point this is our DREAM TEAM .

I think 2017 is setting up very well for Purdue due to the year you will have this year, which imo at this stage, you're the best team in the B1G. Like many have said, PT will open up and be available for this class. The State of Indiana is loaded for 2017 and the situation in Bloomington will likely be going through a coaching change, so Purdue should be in a very nice spot. Timing is perfect to kill it. Good for Painter.....good dude!

Correct, these kids want to play on the big stage. Purdue will offer that. And as far as being close to home, I don't think its a big deal but definitely doesn't hurt. Playing time should open up more. They might not get a ton their freshman season but after that the potential opens up.
