RB coach Chris Barclay
- Mockobee has been a pleasant surprise; saw it in spring; moves differently; has vision; needs strength; a natural
- When I reached out to Mockobee, he was at his mom’s wedding; Purdue was his dream school
- Mockobee was committed to Navy
- Mockobee is like a wet bar of soap; hard to get a grip on him; slight in stature; slips through holes; has confidence
- Not sure why he wasn’t offered out of high school; maybe because of where he’s from
- Ran for over 400 yards in one game
- Saw him while looking at all-state teams; his track background interested me; not sure why he didn’t have more interest
- Depth is better at RB; all bring something different
- Kobe Lewis is coming on; ready to blossom, learning playbook; needs to play faster and anticipate
- Yards don’t win games; TDs do; gotta find a way to score; watched all red zone failures in offseason
- Not shocked by Horvath’s success; he’s different
RB Devin Mockobee
- Boonville is near Evansville
- Committed to Navy for about a year; liked the opportunity from a financial standpoint
- Purdue was my dream school
- Not recruited much because southern Indiana is overlooked
- Was on beach in Florida at my mom’s wedding when Chris Barclay called to offer walk-on chance
- Knew I’d have to earn it; still grinding
- TD vs. Indiana State was dream come true
- My style, I am a skittish back who can run downhill; need to add weight
- Won state long jump as senior; runner up in 300 meter hurdles
- Always had confidence in myself
- Played vs. Gibson Southern and Brady Allen; ran for 419 vs. Gibson Southern
- Family excited for his success
RB Dylan Downing
- Always taught to be prepared; did what I needed to do as No. 1 RB at Syracuse
- RBs getting better each week
- Not surprised by Mockobee
- Worked on scoring in offseason, red zone success
- Watch red zone cut-up failures from last year to learn
