Hello and hello,
Hope you're all enjoying your St. Patrick's weekend even if it's going to be Purdue basketball free.
Wanted to give a little context to what to expect with Selection Sunday happening tomorrow night. I spent a lot of time at the Big Ten Tournament talking with different people about where Purdue was likely to end up in the tournament. These people in general are much smarter and spend way more time with the selection process and seeding. There was a pretty unanimous feeling that Purdue was going to be secured as a #4 seed and even moving along that line was unlikely. It's a tough truth to accept - you think these games make a big difference, but against a 30+ game resume, it's proven that how a teams perform in conference just doesn't carry a bunch of weight when it comes to setting a bracket.
My expectation and most people's expectations is that Purdue will get a #4 seed tomorrow night. That said, it's also expected that with the other teams above them, Purdue is probably going to be in a location that's less than convenient geographically. Looking right now at the Rhode Island, Denver, and Seattle destinations as potential ending spots. Now that doesn't necessarily mean Purdue won't still be in the Midwest bracket where the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight would be in Indianapolis.
We'll know for sure tomorrow night. Hope to see a lot of gold and black whereever Purdue ends up.
