Don't look now but Wheeler just moved into the Rivals Top 150.
I'm not sold on Ondigo myself.for everything positive, there is an equal negative reaction. It's nice to see Wheeler moving up, but Ondigo fell completely off the 150 ranking. And while last year C Edwards jumped up about 20 slots. and I thought Eastern would likewise, he fell to the 70's.
If Taylor can stay healthy and provide some quality depth, any chance the two 7'2 bigs play at the same time? Not that I think it would be a good idea but think CMP gives it a shot at some point?
Ondigo was never ranked in the top 150. I'm also not sure Eastern fell at all from the last set of rankings. Could've sworn he was 75, now he's 73.for everything positive, there is an equal negative reaction. It's nice to see Wheeler moving up, but Ondigo fell completely off the 150 ranking. Chill with the exclamation points. What other sites had Nojel ranked higher? We need to be trying to assemble the best team for next year (we owe it to our seniors) but also keep an eye on the 2018-19 season, where I agree with you we need a more proven center. Hoping that Steve Lutz can pull in a big-time center to come in and be ready for the 18-19 season. Whether it's a transfer or a regular recruit, I'm confident he will get it done.Eastern was ranked higher in several other rankings! My concern with Ondigo is not that I like or dislike him or that I'm worried about where we will be next year. I believe we'll be ok with Haas and Taylor at c with Haarmes and Ewing and Edwards at PF! My concern is next year after Haas leaves! Ondigo seems to be at least better than our targeted 2018 big men! At this stage I wouldn't mind signing a transfer and letting him sit out this year and being ready to play next year after everyone leaves
It's safe to assume that all of Painter's 2018 targeted big men are not public knowledge. We learn this every year.Eastern was ranked higher in several other rankings! lol! Are just as easy to type as . And easier to find! Did you really need to say chill? And some people get offended if people use all caps! It's just a character! At least I got the right you're rather than the lazy your!
If Purdue was really interested in fielding the best possible team for next year, they would have hired Jordan porters dad or whatever his name is as an assistant coach and signed his son!
McCoy. Long shot. But that's the answer to your query.Who knows, maybe we get a really solid center in the next month who is ready to contribute next season. But that's a lot to ask. The pool is small and the demand is incredibly high.
Me neither. He's a project and we already have several of those in this class.I'm not sold on Ondigo myself.
Tilmon and McCoy aren't happening. I'm hoping we get a visit from Garrison Brooks, who asked for his release from Mississippi State. That's much more realistic, but still a longshot.
Purdue @ 34 was out recruited by at least 25 non-blue blood power schools including the likes of Alabama, Providence, Arkansas, Colorado and Western Kentucky.

For such a big class you would think we would be higher up just on sheer numbers. Here is what they said about the class: "Overview: A big bodied guard, Eastern can play all three perimeter positions in the Big Ten. Wheeler is an above average athlete with huge upside while Haarms adds more size on the interior and Stefanovic could develop into a knockdown shooter."
The class IMO has great long term potential and is one that could be a total home run gangbuster if Haarms and Wheeler develop into potential big time difference maker types and SS develops into his DM role.
Or a total flop........ if players mentioned do not work out and end up transferring.
It is generally thought that Eastern will be a success here, but to be a good to great class we need at least two guys to be 2 year plus guys who are difference maker starters (like VE, DM or PJT were) and all to be contributors.
I stress the difference maker deal because I think a good class has guys that compete for a B1G championship or are knocking hard on the door for a championship @ some point in their career.

The 2014 class was rivals #27. The baby boiler class (2007?) was consensus top 10.
I would be satisfied with Ondigo if he added about 5-10 pounds. If that doesn't happen, I would not be too excited about him. I don't think he has the handles to be a SF or G.
Would I rather have a project such as Ondigo for 4 years? Or bring in a proven transfer like Brooks for 1-2 years and hope I could find somebody better in the 2018 or 2019 class? Is Ondigo better than Trapp? Do I even like Trapp? I just hate wasting a 4 year scholarship on a player if you're already recruiting somebody better at the same position in the following class. That is why I can accept recruiting a JuCo or transfer as a stop gap measure.
According to Rivals, the overall rating for 2017 is Purdue's highest since 2007. I'm not sure if that's because of the size of the class, but I found that interesting.
