Purdue has a favorable schedule in 2016. No Michigan St., OSU or Michigan. Pretty weak non conference schedule. First 3 are at home. The question is will they take advantage of it? What ya think?

Eastern KY
Cincinnati
Nevada
@Maryland
@Illinois
Iowa
@Nebraska
Penn State
@Minnesota
Northwestern
Wisconsin
@IU

I thought it was time to replace DH and I still do. Now that the dust has settled and my anger subsided a bit, I think that Malone will be solid and steady-- though not exciting with a "scheme" as many of us would prefer. I also think we have an upgrade with a new designated QB coach. After the upper echelon of the BIG, we were not that far away imo except for our poor coaching/play calling. We have a stud RB, potential stud QB (one of them), and potentially an adequate receiving core. If the new coaches can make the players play not even great, but just solid--with the schedule being so favorable, a low level bowl is certainly a possibility.

Playoffs, you want to talk about playoffs :) I just want to win some games this season. I am not expecting us to go to a bowl game. It would be nice though.

Eastern KY - win
Cincinnati - doubtful? conf. was pretty good last year, they put up a lot of points until the end of the season
Nevada - win, i hope (don't know much about current nevada teams)
@Maryland - maybe a chance
@Illinois - maybe a chance
Iowa - loss
@Nebraska - loss
Penn State - loss
@Minnesota - loss
Northwestern - maybe a chance?
Wisconsin - loss
@IU - loss, assume they'd still out score us

at vert best, i see 5 wins.
but most win possibilities seem to be at the beginning of the year, and include conference road games.
so we better hope we have learned and can run our new schemes, and opponents wont have much to scout yet.

likely, i see 3 (EKU, Nev, 1 conference game)

Exactly this. 3 wins most likely, possibly 4 (which would be "progress"), and if everything goes perfectly, 5.

I agree 4 possible. The school of the blind could win 2 of first 3 and maybe beat Illinois. A weak preseason will help bozo keep his job another year.

Cincinnati lost their offensive coordinator who drove that high scoring offense to UK. Not sure who they have to replace him (if anyone, yet), so UC will be doing new things next season too.

I always wait until after first game to make any prediction, but it is fun to talk about it, would be nice to win 1/2 of the games

I see purdue winning 3 or 4 games. The non conference games are all winnable but we know how that goes. The schedule towards the end is tougher.

Is Kiel still the QB or did he try to transfer to another school again?
No, Gunner is staying at UC. The UK transfer was a redshirt freshman walk-on QB, Luke Wright, who was well thought of, but likely won't be a difference maker regardless of where he plays in a BCS conference.

Boilers everywhere would be absolutely delighted to schedule a (future) series with the

Would another very bad season be enough to fire Hazell or are we stuck with him until Burke retires?

I think 4 or less means termination. And I think Burke would recuse himself from the hiring process.

And both of those statements are 100% conjecture.

So do i. If Burke's successor is named prior to the season, CDH wont be back.
before next season? that would be great.
who makes this hire (president, BOT, search committee used, combination of all)? honestly have no idea how they go about it, especially if its an outside guy

Bot and Mitch

I would say Josh Whitman would be a great hire for the Purdue AD job. He is a local kid (graduated from Harrison High School in West Lafayette in 1996) and played football at the University of Illinois (he got lost in the shuffle between Coletto and Tiller). He played a few seasons in the NFL with the Chargers and the Dolphins. Currently, he is the AD at Washington University (St. Louis) and was hired in 2014.

Whitman fits a lot of the criteria that many on here have wanted from the new AD. Young and energetic who has a history in football at the major FBS level (even within the B1G). I think it would be a knockout hire IMO.

And with that, what we will get is a less experienced version of MB. Someone who is willing to do things on the cheap and tow the company line while athletics take their "rightful place" in the back seat.

Most likely, but Burke will need to be replace before Hazell is replaced.

So is Burke scheduled to retire in two years? When do they usually name the new AD?
