Purdue vs. Tennessee overview

I gotta believe he's referring to other teams in the tournament and near future that they'll play against. There's no way someone like him doesn't know how Purdue plays defense.
could be or he really means this, " It’s still about us doing what we do and getting better at it,” Barnes said.", but that would be foolish. Somewhere in some post I posted they were smaller than Nag has listed...it must have been their newcomers. Their guards are big..and I think Historically Barnes has had big teams. It seems like Purdue (Keady ) beat them when they were a lot better than Purdue on paper...but maybe I'm thinking of someone else. I think it was Terrance Crump days?????

The one guard hasn't been to the line...must be a cline his first two years. Another article talked about a man press, but it appears to be a 1-2-2 and unless their big guards are REALLY quick...I suspect it is a zone press...

I think the last time we played them was for the title in Puerto Rico. Bruce Pearl was the coach.

yeah...I was talking Texas and Barnes and it must not have been clear...sorry..

Keady's '99 team (10-seed) beat Texas under Barnes (first year with Texas) in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. Purdue went on to beat the 2-seed to advance to the Regional before falling to Temple. Keady's 2003 team (9-seed) lost to the 1-seed Texas under Barnes. Texas went on to the Final Four, led by TJ Ford.

The only other meeting I know of was the infamous Hoosier Dome NCAA tournament game in '90 when Tom Penders coached Texas. Unfortunately, I witnessed that one en persona.

unfortunately I was there as well! Thanks. The temple team must have been the one with the two bigs...one a WIDE body that had his way. Seems like they had a guard that could stroke it as well. Now I see it was Tony Mayfield that I was thinking of for the Purdue guard against TExas with Barnes

Temple had a senior Mark Macon, a point guard named Vic Carstarphen, a tall small forward named Mik Kilgore that lit up the Boilers...nevermind, I'm thinking of '91. '99 was Pepe Sanchez as Temple's PG, Rasheed Brokenborough as the 2 guard, Mark Karcher was the 3 that lit up the Boilers and Lamont Barnes and wide-body Kevin Lyde were the starters at the 4 and 5.

Lamont is who I remember as the main big player, but recall the wide body killing us. I think Macon was suppose to be their best.. I "think" I recall their match-up not causing problems for Purdue as expected, but Purdue couldn't stop their inside game of smash mouth...

Thanks...

Kevin Lyde is the wide-body you recall. They also had a backup wide-body named Ronald Rollerson, who played well in limited minutes.

I was at that game and Temple seemed to just hit shots at will. I was at the Duke Temple game as well and they couldn’t hit anything.
