Purdue vs. Old Dominion:

How do you miss a dunk when you're 6'7? I think he got caught inbetween a little bit.

Everette Stephens be like...

AJH is having a great game at both ends! Caleb just needs to relax and let the game come to him.

Caleb just having a bad game. Good learning experience for him. Don't hold the ball in the post they will take it away from you!!

Yup, Biggie having a really bad game. He'll forget this one get to show what he can do on a bigger stage, probably against FL.

"Elite 8 type talent"......interesting comment from the color guy at the end of the game.

Like you said Tex, who would've thought? Caleb had half the team's TOs! Vince didn't have his best game, etc etc

I like Hill!

DM with some big buckets late too

Seemed like a weird game on gametracker............

First game out of Mackey and only 4th overall.

Not really worried as a few guys had bad games and we still won big.

Lots of options and good defense will help us grind out close games.

Now if we look this sloppy tomorrow. I may get a little concerned.

As good as they seem at times, freshmen are still not going to carry any D1 team through a tough game. Counting on them to close a "hole" or fix a major graduation lose is weak sauce. By the end of the season, tournament time, Biggie will no longer be a freshman.

I thought Hill had a nice game. He has the ability to get to the basket and finish. He doesn't force anything and plays solid defense. If your looking for flash that isn't him but I like his steady play.

Those five 3's from KS and DM really made a difference momentum-wise, along with AJ's work the whole game.

I like this team... If a few players are not having a good game, there are others who rise up and deliver. Cold shooters keep shooting and turn it around instead of staying cold as happened several times last year. I liked the defense much better today than last game, not that it was perfect. Still several avoidable turnovers - an area to keep working. Johnny Hill and PJ tag teaming at point seems to be working out well, though I do think they could struggle against a truly elite PG. Kasey Hill still at FL? If so, could be a good test for our guys, because I remember him being quite good. All in all, I think if at least one of our bigs and one of our shooters are having decent games, and the team is playing defense reasonably well, we are going to be tough to beat.

I missed the game .. the score seemed low but sounds like it worked out anyway.
They tried the hack-a-shack defense for a while until they ran out of players. Their center had 4 fouls early in the second half. That seemed to keep the score down. Hammons looks really good. Has a little turn around hook/jumper that he never had before.

Good to hear about aj thank you

What a great game by the Boilers. Always nice to dismantle an opponent whom I would have been very worried about the past few years.

This team is special.

Really hope FL wins so we can face a high-profile opponent, and hopefully make another great statement.

BOILER UP!

AJH and Haas carrying the team. Shooters can't find the mark. Defense is steady. Too many turnovers for my liking. But we are winning. ODU can't find a way to consistently hurt us.

This team will go only as far as their guards/guard play will carry them. And there is where the main body of work/improvement must be accomplished & come from. All season long, teams will automatically start to test our guards/guard play first & foremost. Our turnovers must be diminished, gradually, all season long, for this team to have a chance to be where it wants to be at season's end. Looking at this game, where would we be without AJH, Haas, or either one of them? This team is a little too dependent on it's post players, & must get steadly greater improved guard play, especially before the B1G season starts. A work in progress, beginning with the guards/guard play.

I'm not worried about our guard play at all. We are extremely solid at the 1 and 2, IMO.

TO's were mainly early in the game, and I think half of them were committed by Caleb.

"Where would we be without AJH, Haas, or either one of them??" Huh?? Who cares?? We have both. Are we now just making things up to worry about??

I feel great about what I've seen so far. No guard worries, no depth worries, not really any TO worries, we are all good IMO.

I think the "guard play" problem is way overblown. We have a lot of shooters and one of the best front courts - if not the best - in the country. Since no one is ready to claim that Purdue is a top 10 team, there has to be some reason to keep them out. Can't be the big guys, gotta pick on the guards.

Who have we played thus far? You seem too easily impressed, with such weak competition. We'll know more after our FL./SJU game. They look good now, but we haven't played a ranked team yet. That changes soon enough. Let's say you're coaching team XYZ. XYZ is our next opponent. How would you plan your first attack strategy against this Purdue team? What would be your Purdue game plan? How would you beat Purdue. Your XYZ team is a slightly above average team in their power conference. Your team is ranked 21-25 & currently undefeated. What's your Purdue game plan? How are you going to beat Purdue? I simply state the obvious. This isn't rocket science.

You mentioned turnovers, I believe both teams finished even, with about 10 each. There are two main points to the turnover equasion, how many you committ, & how many you force.

Think about it.

You couldn't answer a single question I ask you. You know about as much about basketball, as a rock. I can tell you've never played basketball, let alone know common sense from shooting off your big mouth. You're all talk & no brains.

m
Beautiful play for KS on the backdoor and be blows the dunk!
my money says that was discussed in the TO ...that they were going to get out on KS on the 3...just wished he would have got the dunk...
