Let's have 'em.

We've won 11 games in a row in some tough environments. I hate to say it but we may be due for a loss, and losing on the road to Michigan wouldn't be the worst loss of the year. I have a feeling they will be ranked by year's end so if we have to lose a game, maybe it's best to get it out of the way.

With that said my prediction is Purdue 74 Michigan 69.

We are a veteran squad who have not won yet in this venue. They will be hungry and eager to get this notch on their belt. Boilers come out focused and control this game, ala Marquette.

80-68

I like our chances tonight, the new ranking scares me, but I believe our seniors will play through it, hit some big shots early and the emotion of Boogie and Haarms following a few good blocks will carry us to a W. Purdue - 82 UM - 73

We're not going undefeated the rest of the way, right? I believe in this team, but even our best teams ran into "perfect storms", particularly on the road. Looking at the big picture view of the season, I think @UM and @MSU and one other unexpected road game are those storms. Still gets 15-3 and a good shot at the title and a 2/3 seed. 78-76 bad guys. But Purdue is still the better team.

a little surprised to see some of the predictions of Purdue getting in the mid to high 80s for points. Michigan has both a pretty good defense and plays at a pretty slow pace, leading to a current #12 rank nationally only allowing 61.6 PPG. While Purdue averages 86 PPG, simply averaging of the 2 (M defense + Purdue offense) would suggest Purdue most likely to score about 74 points tonight while KenPom predicts Purdue to get 68. I'll be kinda shocked if Purdue tops 80 points.

Purdue has a bad shooting game last time out. It’s not likely to happen again. I think if Purdue gets to 80, it’s safe to say they win however.

Haven't seen Michigan play yet, do the have any rim protection?

88-70

Purdue defends and hits shots. Zebras let them play and don't homer us too bad.

....sure hope you are right. Especially about the refs. However, defending , hitting shots and friendly zebras all at once is pretty amazing trio. But I still believe in unicorns too so right there with you, Heller. Boiler Up!!

I hope I'm wrong, been wrong lots before. At least you won't see me on here crying that the sky if falling if we lose.

Side note: I hope we lock down Abul-Rahkman. It takes their PA announcer like 10 minutes to announce a made basket by him and say his entire name.
Locking him down is a major key. He is a very sound, skilled, and intelligent player (coach's son, I believe).

This would be a terrific night for the Boilers to put 40 minutes together!

I tend to agree with this. This will be our first road game in a month and we are coming off a not-so-stellar shooting game. I think Purdue ends up with 65 to 70 points at most. The question is, can Purdue hold Michigan to the 63.3 points that the Purdue defense is averaging.
I'm honestly not sure. My homeristic belief is that we will jump to a 10 to 12 point halftime lead (say 36-26), but Michigan will slowly chip away at it over the course of the second half and we win by about 4 with some clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch. My realistic approach says that this is our second toughest road game of the year and we drop it by about 6 points.

I'm not going to be all that worried if we lose, and I'm not going to declare us Big Ten champions if we win.

Agreed. Purdue has not been all that sharp the last few games. They put it all together tonight for an 80-68 win. CE has a good game scoring the ball.

Is it the most Purdue thing ever to see we are up to #5 in the polls and immediately start worrying about our next game? Can we just stay like 15-20 forever?

Agree...the high ranking and lots of hype has always been a harbinger of doom for us. Here's to hoping we buck that trend this year.

Heart says Purdue. Logic says a very good team, ranked 5th, with 4 starting Seniors and a Junior off the bench should beat an unranked opponent, even on the road.

But, it seems like usually when we have been in games like this we lose with a coach not named Lee Rose. I hope I'm wrong and this is the 1st of getting a few proverbial monkeys off our back. But I say:

Michigan 75 Purdue 70

Michigan has our number this year again. 71-64 bad guys. Bummer
Not a Purdue thing. A college basketball thing. Just within the past week, something like half of the top 20 lost a game. It's a grind.

well MAAR is from PA. (Allentown). Oh yeah, we win 70-63 and Painter doesn't complain about the lockeroom.

I don't understand all the doom and gloom from the Boiler Nation.on this game ,so let me spell it out . We are on an 11 game winning streak, nobody in the country is playing better basketball than the Boilers. Our 2 losses were 1 in overtime and if I remember right, the other by 3 points. Our starting guards are better than their guards. Our bigs are better than their bigs.our defense is much better better than their defense. Why would anyone think we would lose!

Different teams from last year. Walton and DJ both gone .They have a young team. Our defense is much better this year.
Finally somebody sees what I see. Not same team purdue is but added Haarms Nojel Grady Cline and Taylor. Michigan lost Irvin Walton and Wilson added livers, pool and mathews good bunch that hasn’t truly been tested yet. Purdue is ready as ever can be and got preseason checklist they trying check off their list of games they most interested in and this is one of them. Don’t panic ppl we good this team is experienced got shooters size speed athleticism we gone be alright.

purdue a 2 point favorite
I think we cover that with steady senior play and a brief barrage from carsen.

82-75

Purdue is currently a way better team than Michigan and has way more cohesiveness. The only way we lose this game is if we hit less than 5 threes and they hit a bunch. And even then it will be a close game. I do think it will be similar to the Marquette game. Close early...pull away in the 2nd.

I'm not done yet, think about it, how many teams in the country have 2 seven footers with the abilities that these 2 have? How many teams in the country have the guards that can play defense and shoot the ball like our guards can?

And I didn't even mention VE.not many teams have a forward who can shoot the 3 ,drive to the basket, and rebound with the best of them.

Only thing I'm noticing from all of these predictions is that several "difference makers" have been noted, but nobody has even said "Mathias" yet......what a luxury.
