Purdue vs McNeese St - I just hope Purdue brings the offense this weekend

Purdue played well enough to win but we are desperately needing another consistent scorer to step up to take the pressure off TKR and BS. I felt BS forced some stuff that wasn't there because passing it off to someone who was going to pass it back is a waste. There were countless fake-side step-shoot 3pt opportunities that Purdue just passed up.

Regardless, the DEFENSE will need to step up and play more aggressive. The good news is Purdue has a deep bench and can sub in guys to give people a break. They will need to go hard at McNeese St. to take them out of their game on Saturday.

OFFENSE will need to return as points will be required to beat a fairly high octane McNeese St. team from what I saw. My hope is that MS spent their offense tonight and come out 1 for 30 against Purdue, while simultaneously, Purdue drops 60% from the arc.

Failure for the D to stop their O and our O remains on vacation on Sat will bring an end to a great season--one that I didn't expect would be this good given the losses from last year's team. Just need to augment the player roster next season to make a push for #1 and NC in 2026.

Bench scored 22 and had 22 rebounds. We are in great spot if we can get that plus the big 3 or only 2 of the big 3.

Heide had his best game…maybe in his career

Purdue took High Point's top scorer's out of the game. Sure they should have won by 20+ when they out rebound like they did, but Smith missed quite a few shots6/19. TKR was not great at the FT line. Loyer hit all of his FT shots. Not bad, but not great.

Clemson scored like 13 points in the first half and almost won. I like our chances quite a bit. Mcneese is playing with house money but we are playing with experience and I will take that!

I don't mind subbing BS out for a possession to give him a break.

I will say this, if Purdue rolls early, I would love to see CMP sit the starters at halftime and let that second and third squad of players play the rest of the game while allowing the starters sit to avoid injury and allow some legs to rest.

If Purdue can play scrappy D, I think we can slow McNeese down then we just need the O to follow. I saw someone suggested Purdue by double-digits while the line is at Purdue by 6.5. I would think Purdue should score more than 13 points in a half.

Second half McNeese State I saw last night doesn't worry me.

Just depends on what team we get and can they sustain it for an entire game.

Yes, Mc State 2nd half, they were abysmal. But I ONLY worry about Purdue's play. Step up and our Big 2 stay out of foul trouble and we will be fine. TKR really better be careful though, that's my biggest concern.

Is Robbie Hummel doing any announcing throughout the tournament? I would have to believe someone picked him up but I haven't seen him on any of the games.

This game kind of reminds me of the Baylor tourney game a while back. I remember hearing about all the athletes Baylor would throw at Purdue but it was Purdue that got into transition and ran Baylor off the floor.
Granted, we don't have JJ to run the floor, but this might be a game where Smith, Harriss, CH and MC can use their athleticism and play uptempo, getting out and running.

Their mid-major schedule is just as weak as McNeese. Clemson was their only good win all year. BTW, I expect Purdue to score more than 13 points in the first half.

A pretty good chance to make it to the sweet 16 if we come with our Mackey game! If we make it to the sweet 16 and then catch fire - who knows how far we could go. One game at a time of course, but it sure was nice getting though game 1 and the Seth Davis BS jinx!
