Purdue vs. Marquette overview

Am I missing something? Here's what we have seen this year. Carsen has taken one more shot than Vince on the year. He is shooting 55% from 3 where Vince is shooting 17%. Vince has more rebounds and 2.5 TOs per game... Carson hasn't turned it over yet this year. Carsen is averaging 21 ppg where Vince is at 15 ppg (again with a single shot separating them).

I just don't see an out of control Carsen anymore. And btw, Dakota is 86% from 3. Nice! Of the people that shoot 3s regularly:

Dakota (6/7) - 86%
Carsen (6/11) - 55%
PJ (6/12) - 50%
Vince (1/6) - 17%
Cline (1/6) - 17%

I can only think that the people saying that he is out of control are relying on their memory and and haven't seen him play yet this year. It would be like saying that Haas can't hit his free throws.

Not saying Haas is poor offensively, but for him to be able to make moves, he essentially has to get his man in an isolation so he can either score or draw a foul. Plus, teams will sag and give him the mid-range jumper all day because they know if their big leaves the lane, Carsen or Vince will drive it. I think Haas will continue to see double/triple teams to make him give up the ball and not give him a chance to make an offensive move.
When that happens, we just can't afford to have one of those 2-25 nights from 3.
Bones is right. Not because of any difficiency with Haas, just because that is the nature of playing the low post. It’s a tough, nasty part of the court where nothing is given easily. Not position, not post feeds, not shots, not passing. All of it is contested and usually with an astonishingly high level of violence. Watch a game from the baseline seats and you will get an eye opener.
If the opponent brings an effective double or triple team to the post then the pass out and jumper needs to work. There is also an opportunity for slashing wings to receive nice short passes from the post for pull-ups, layups, and dunks. This is just what basketball offense is. Make the defense move to create weak spots in the defense and attack the openings that form. Understand the defensive adjustment that will come (unless it’s IU since there won’t be any) and attack that weak point.

You'll get a lot farther with me if you just shut up and agree I was talking about Carsen. The same guy whose off nights earlier this year caused his team to get blown out in the U19 and WUG tournaments. Maybe that paints a clearer picture why I'm bothered.
Yeah it does. You have absolutely no idea what your talking about. Keep watching Carsen. You will have to work much harder to tear him down this year.

There's an assumption here that DG wants to get further with you .... that may not be a valid assumption.

It should be further, not farther. Farther is used to describe physical distances. For example: I had to walk farther today than yesterday. Further is used to describe theoretical distances. Example: There is no need to discuss this topic further.

Once you cross the Ohio River going south, they both mean the same thing.:D

I have such a great joke .... but pol-corr would cause me to be crucified ... oh well ... no laughs for the non-poll-corr today.

Did you know that political correctness has caused everyone in Washington, D.C. to become skilled liers????

Any thoughts from anyone regarding the individual matchups in this game? Who should be guarding who in the man-to-man D?

W/O stats on them,,, no. It appears they have two tall wings and we start two shorter guys, so I predict Dakota on the higher scoring wing. Other than that, position to position. I looks like Carson will be on a 6' 5" guy ..... hmmm ....

I see a big problem. Haas could realistically shoot 70% this year. I don't know if that's ever happened. Problem is the guards especially you know who are too cocky and playing keep away from him. 3 field goal attempts today. I don't know if he had double digit shots in any WUG game. Our 1 loss is bc he didn't get enough shots. I haven't seen anybody on Marquette last couple years who could handle Haas. If we get into a 3 point contest on their home court it'll be close. If we use Haas it's a blowout.

Surprise. Carsen couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in the first half and we were still winning. Why? Because of Isaac. Remember that I'm always right next time you make a fool of yourself contradicting me (as in every person on here besides Treed)

Doesn’t tonight actually prove most of our points? I believe most said a loss isn’t the fault of a single player...rather because of a lack of overall effectiveness by the entire team. The first half, Carsen...along with every other player not named Haas or Haarms...was bad in the first half. Your original point was trying to say there is a parallel between Carsen struggling and the team losing...and yet here you are trying to parade like you are the queen yet Purdue won the game. You know why? Because it is a team game and Carsen adapted in the second half and played as good a second half as I have seen from him in terms of picking and choosing his spots, altering his approach, and playing knockout defense for most of the entire game.

Your argument is that a game like this is one that Purdue loses...you didn’t actually prove anything and only showed you have little to no humility or decency.

You're a little slow. But don't feel bad. It's a guy thing. Dakota Girl gets my point I bet. She just doesn't agree. I said it would be close if Carsen took too many shots. He only took 10 or so. I said we'd win easy if we let Isaac get the ball enough. He did.

Dakota Girl is a dog. Literally.

BabyGirl will be here until banned. This is more fun to him than watching his own team this year. That tells you how bad they really are.

Kind'a weird replying to yourself? I get your perspective, but I don't agree with the way you spin it sometimes. Nothing personal here. I also think you should realize that calling people names on here makes the you look pretty silly.

By the way, declaring that you are "always right" is a bit of a load unless you are winking as you write it. It speaks volumes about you.
