I don’t have the full details or all of the information to have a full discussion about the topic, but there are strong indicators that Eva Hudson and Chloe Chicoine will be entering the transfer portal very soon.

Gutting and devastating news for us Purdue Volleyball fans and I’m curious how Shondell responds. I’ve been a fan of this program for 15+ years and I can’t remember a darker time in Purdue Volleyball history.

Yeah, just saw this same news on the Gold&Black site. This is awful if true. Also reporting that Lizzie Carr & Lourdes Myers are going into the portal. WTH is going on?

I’m like stupefied here. This is borderline ruining my day. It’s just sports, but man this team, and these players are special. What a bummer. Holding out hope it is a massive rumor/joke….

We are really good, but I wonder if not making it over the hump to the top 5-6 teams is a thorn to them. We didn't do well against the best teams this year. I also heard our coach on TV lay into the players for not being ready to play against Louisville in such a big match. He did take some blame also, but they played really bad in that match, almost non-existent.

This will totally devastate our program....love watching our girls play ..we will fall to bottom third in conf over night. Maybe they all feel they've peeked here..could never get over the hump with the top 3 in our conf....or with money flying around..probably being poached by other big programs...either way shocking and disheartening!

This makes no sense, it has to be about money, Purdue obviously doesn’t have the money others do, unbelievable.

Someone needs to step in with their check book to atleast fix this volleyball mess for next yr...worry about fixing long term later...this could set us back several years

Holy cow. While mainly a ladies basketball fan (which you need to be tough to watch them), I watched almost every volleyball game that was televised. I am shocked those gals are going into the portal. I really enjoyed watching them play. Having been a H.S. basketball girls coach, when something like this happens, something has had to happen. In this day and age, it is either money, something within the locker room (team), or coaching. Pretty disappointed in this whole portal thing!!!!

Ya....not amateur sports anymore!! NCAA had a chance to get a head of this about 5 yrs ago. They knew it was coming and just punted....it's demanding being a student athlete...they should of implemented a stripen of say $500 a month for student athletes. But now,by not acting on it, it's the wild wild West and totally out of control. Dude goin to BYU next year for basketball getting 7 mill a yr...just insane!!

It has to be money, it was reported on here that Purdue doesn’t have a collective for Volleyball, girls get NIL by fans purchasing jersey/signing autographs etc, you’ll see Chloe and Hudson at either Penn State, Nebraska, Wisky, obviously they’ll get paid, bunch of bullshit really.

We just need that billionaire alum to also be a volleyball fan.

Athletes have gotten stipends for a loooong time. Also, $6,000 a year is laughable considering some players are now getting paid multimillions just to attend a school. If you think a stipend would fix it, it would need to be at least $10,000 per month. Even then, players would still be getting millions to transfer.

It would of capped it across the board...student athletes complaints for decades is they dint have pizza money and can't have jobs with work load...valid point! But if they would of implemented a monthly payout to student athletes some ten twenty years ago...they could of been ahead of the curve...but when NW athletes took them in front of Congress....the ruling blew the lid off it and this is the end result. NCAA totally blew it when they had a chance to fix it. As for the portal...which is a joke that an athlete can transfer every year. Makes no sense.

Problem is the NCAA is not a single entity, but a collection of schools, and only a couple dozen have/had the resources to pay that stipend to all 500-700 athletes on scholarship. The have-nots would have lost even more money and we might have seen schools dropping out of D1 because of financial losses. Yes, OSU brings in millions from athletics, but Ball State struggles to field teams and break even, and that was before athletes started getting paid. At this point the whole structure is a house of cards about to collapse. There simply is not enough money in the system to keep more than 4-5 dozen schools able to compete in the 4 main sports, and that number may be an exageration. Collegiate athletics is dying, to be replaced to professional teams with university names attached to them the way European pro leagues are owned by corporate sponsors.
