I mostly agree but wouldn’t use the word cut. There is no evidence of any scholarships being pulled. Since most recruits are told they will be given a chance to play immediately at a certain position, all it takes is being honest with them and saying you’re probably going to be playing special teams for a few years, you have my support to look elsewhere. But, yes, that’s part of the messy business of big boy football. Stockpile talent. Just don’t do anything egregious like pulling a scholly at the last minute.I might get blasted for this viewpoint, but I appreciate what Brohm has done thus far. Go out and solidify a class.
Then, cut the guys who don't develop or project like you thought they would after their Sr. year. Try and give them enough time to find another place to land.
Then from there, see if we can encourage better guys to come our way.
I'm a fan.
None that know the alphabet or "ciphering".UT have any recruits worth flipping?
Probably difficult to leave the girl cousins behind!None that know the alphabet or "ciphering".
Tenn already had 12 players decommit - mostly this past month! And yes they are elite and worth going after!UT have any recruits worth flipping?
Mukuamu officially decommitted tonight. 6’5 safety prospect. Let’s lock him up. Might be able to bulk up and play a hybrid type cover LB?
I think this is what is happening right now. The IU win has really solidified to some recruits who were contacted and showed some interest that Brohm is a damn good coach. Then the whole UT fiasco likely solidified him as well as a guy who is a high character guy and isn't just going to bolt at the first opportunity. Destin Coates just de-committed as well likely because Brohm sees the depth at RB and doesn't believe he needs to take one right now OR believes he can get a better recruit.I might get blasted for this viewpoint, but I appreciate what Brohm has done thus far. Go out and solidify a class.

I think his 2019 class is going to surprise a lot of people.I have a feeling I haven't had in a long time. I have a feeling brohm might just be bale to pull it off and actually sign some of these higher profile / elite athletes he's now targeting.
I think his 2019 class is going to surprise a lot of people.
Perhaps. There just doesn't seem to be enough room left in the 2018 class unless there is a mass exodus. Also, other programs are continuing to add recruits as well. My guess is 2018 ends up around 35-40 and 2019 is top 25.I'm going to slightly disagree. I believe his final 2018 class is going to surprise a lot of people. Last year in the last week of recruiting, brohm flipped about 5-7 players who had commitments. he's doing the same this year, but with higher profile flips. he's currently going hard after de-committed players and committed players. by signing day, I think he'll probably add 4-6 more high profile players this year.
You already saw his first player committed for 2019! A 4* defensive lineman. When all is said and done and signed for 2018, I believe his 2019 class will not surprise anybody but will be the expected norm.
Looking at his recruit average, if brohm were to sign 2-4 of his current targets, his 2018 class could end up being one of the top 5 in the BIG 10 and in the top 30 nationally. and looking at the players he's targeting, I believe it's actually realistic he may pull it off.
Don't forget that the early signing date comes in to play this year as well and a lot of players will be seeking a spot at the table SOMEWHERE before they get left out. A lot of guys are going to stick with their original commitments more and some other players will start looking at their other options in a shorter time span...whereas lots of times Purdue would get the short end of the stick when a large program would come in and offer a kid a few days before signing day and Purdue would be left at the alter. I know it happened to Hazell with two OL commits who bolted for MSU and Stanford a few days prior to signing their LOI.Perhaps. There just doesn't seem to be enough room left in the 2018 class unless there is a mass exodus. Also, other programs are continuing to add recruits as well. My guess is 2018 ends up around 35-40 and 2019 is top 25.
Going after Florida State commit Isreal Mukuamu
it appears his family prefers Purdue. I like the sounds of this. and Moore is coming next weekend , and we have an in home with Taylor next Tuesday. I'd like Brohm to land all three players, but I realize to do so will basically mean losing three other commits.http://www.thestate.com/sports/coll...ecruiting/phil-kornblut/article187272748.html
"Mukuamu has taken official visits to USC, Florida State, Indiana and Georgia. He said his entire family will go with him to Purdue this weekend. Purdue coaches were in to see him Wednesday and Indiana was in Tuesday.
Mukuamu will sign Dec. 20, and he plans to commit publicly before that date."

Are you referring to Parks? Which article are you referring to? The Orlando Sentinel piece I read about it didn’t sound like that at all.My thoughts are Brohm wouldn't be on the recruiting trail and making new offers to recruits if he hadn't first contacted them and also wanted to sign them! I hate to speculate there will be a mass exodus but in reading the comments of that recent defensive lineman de-commit in a recent article about Purdue it didn't appear that he planned or wanted to de-commit! His tweets also kind of reflected his offer was pulled!

Yep and if you look at his tweets before his de-commitment it sounded like his scholarship was pulledYes, Parks. there was a different article talking about Purdue's recruits reacting to Purdue's success this year. and he was talking as if he was part of the team and looking forward to next year, and then poof, almost the next day he de-committed, and a bunch of his personal tweets said sorry, hope it all works out. If you look at the first article, and then his tweets, it looks as if he received a pink slip shortly after being all positive. The article was on 24/7. it included several commits talking it up.

"Man it’s a joy to watch the Purdue train roll on those tracks again!" defensive end commit Connor Parks said. "Coach Brohm has brought the spirit back to Purdue. Also the coaches he’s surrounded himself with around this program are just outstanding.
"It’s only the beginning!" Parks continued. "Our recruitment is top notch right now. We can’t be stopped, won’t be stopped. We have Rose Bowl dreams and there is no doubt in my mind that we will get to it."
Parks made those comments on 26 November. and the next day after being so positive about Purdue, he de-committed. Those do not sound like they came from a guy about to de-commit the next day because he wanted to.

Yeah I would tend to agree. I don’t feel great about that...wonder if the staff was unsure about something...his commitment to Purdue, or maybe grades? If you have another kid of similar or better talent, and he’s 100% committed versus another kid who’s only 80% committed...Yes, Parks. there was a different article talking about Purdue's recruits reacting to Purdue's success this year. and he was talking as if he was part of the team and looking forward to next year, and then poof, almost the next day he de-committed, and a bunch of his personal tweets said sorry, hope it all works out. That's a great problem to have that doesn't appear it was the case for the last few years.....For every great player we sign, there will be one who wanted to attend Purdue but couldn't...and those that are likely to be pushed out would still be good players for the program.I also realize as Brohm continues to recruit there will be others who mutually part ways. We are 5 players over our scholarship limit, and Brohm is very active on the recruiting trail with at least 6 targets that I know of. For every great player we sign, there will be one who wanted to attend Purdue but couldn't. I fully believe brohm will sign another WR, and possibly this safety. In doing so, another recruit will leave. that's the reality of recruiting.
My son would have gladly accepted a scholarship to play football or basketball at Purdue. Sadly, he wasn't good enough. So he pursued track and found a new home and success..
From the outside looking in...We think we know how many scholies we have or do not have.
JB knows where he is at and why the deck needs shuffled as this thing plays out...
Question, When was the last time that we all can remember our program getting the visits from the level of players that are now showing up to campus?
I can remember the fall camp that Brandon Gorin`s class reported to and seeing the drastic improvement in physical size and ability as a class that group had.
I really have nothing new to say on recruiting right now. I just cannot believe how there was 7 current threads on the TN coaching situation more current than actual Purdue football discussions. I wanted to move this thread to the top to change that.
No there would’ve been a go fund me account created to help pay for the hazes moving expenses.I think it speaks to how much boiler fans love their coach. if ten came calling for Hazell, would there even be a thread created?
I do see quite a few players , who play worse their senior season. Some have lost some of their enthusiasm for the sport, some start hanging out with friends more, and other reasons. So I can see why some lose scholarship offer.I simply guessing here, what if player A had a great Junior season, was offered and committed to PU. Then player A had a mediocre Senior Season, for any multitude of reasons, PU, I would think has the right to pull the Scholly? Again, I’m guessing, can someone School me up on this. Thanks, Brothers!
