I know you haven't completed this yet, but this game worries me 10 times as much as the MSU game did.
As a cautiously optimistic fan (sorry, I've been conditioned over the decades) I am not worried about any of the remaining games except @ Michigan. Usually I would be a bit nervous about each of the 4 remaining games, but something about this team that puts me at ease. Mostly I think because of their play lately. Here's to hoping for no regression!

They need to throat punch these guys. To me this is a statement game to ourselves. Michigan is going to be a tough venue as they are firmly on the bubble with yesterday's loss. We need a beatdown. And just roll into Ann Arbor with swagger

I think that you are right. Considering that, at 6-8, PSU is in a 3 way tie with Nebraska and Iowa, both of which Purdue lost to on the road, the Boilers can't look at their record and assume that it will be an easy game.

Plus, they have beaten Minnesota and Maryland already, though they did lose to Rutgers...go figure.

I do anticipate Mike Watkins being more of a factor than he was in the game at Mackey:

He's a legit shot-blocker. I don't think the guys should be afraid to go (around or over) at him, but they'll have to be a little craftier at times than they would be when they beat his teammates to a spot or to the basket. They have to be careful with the ball around Josh Reaves as well. He's one of the B1G's leaders in steals per game.

I saw a couple of hours ago on BTN that PSU guard Nazeer Bostick will be out for the next 2 to 4 weeks (which I assume would be the remainder of PSU's season) with an injury. It doesn't make too much of a difference, but he was a semi-regular rotation guy for them, so that's one less player for the PU coaches to scout and one less player on PSU's depth chart.

We can count on his back-up to have a career night.

See, and I think we will take care of Michigan. I just don't think they can handle our inside game. Northwesten, OTOH, will be extremely tough given the circumstances surrounding that game.

I think at Michigan will be quite a challenge. Purdue needs to shoot better and find more ways to create scoring opportunities than they did at Crisler last season. They need to dish out some payback.

Before that though, they need to have a sense of urgency playing Penn State.

Boiler Up

In man-to-man D matchups, who would you like to see each Boilers regular guarding the majority of the time?

Mine:

Projected Starters

-CE on Carr

-Thompson on Garner

-Mathias on Reaves

-VE on Stevens

-Swanigan or Haas on Watkins

Projected Reinforcements:

-(CE or Mathias) on Samuel

-Albrecht (or Thompson) on Washington (assuming he plays)

-Cline (Mathias or VE) on Zemgulis

-(VE, Cline, or Mathias) on Banks

-(Haas or Swanigan) on Moore

Tip-off is about an hour away!

This smells like another trap game, like when we lost to Nebraska. I want our guys to be careful. Penn State can sneak up on anyone.
I'm sweating some little bullets. I think Nebraska and Iowa made me that way. A 20 point lead at half would make me dry up though.
