Purdue nets first 2026 commit

I found out yesterday that Rico's grandmother, who just died sadly, was really good friends with one of my best friend's mom. My friend had mentioned his name about a year ago while Walters and company were recruiting him. Sounded like a Nebraska lean from what I heard.

Whatever that's worth. Great to have some size on board!

I thought the only place you can get linemen that big were the dairy farms in Wisconsin. Huh.
Those are the best ones. They have the long German or polish last names that barely fit on the jersey.

And they don’t need to redshirt, cuz they’ve been throwing hay bales around for their whole lives.

Wole will tell you that big guys don't like Purdue, thus Purdue will always be void of large lineman.........
We really do have a reading comprehension problem on this board and a total memory loss!

I’ve stated this on this board over 1,000 times!!!!!!!

We didn’t have a very good offensive line because Our last three coaches never prioritized recruiting offensive lineman. If you look at the past history of Purdue football our last three coaches always made QBs and WRs their top recruiting priority! They called Purdue the cradle of QBs and always went after getting a 4/5 star qb instead of going after 4/5 star linemen!

4/5 star linemen do exist!!! And they exist in Indiana. But they rarely come to Purdue because Purdue targets 2/3 star linemen who are undersized and then redshirts them and feeds them supplements to try to build them into the type of linemen they should have recruited in the first place. The problem is it takes 2-3 years to develop these undersized linemen and Purdue only gets 1-2 good years from them where other schools get 3-4 good years.

Hartwig was an exception but also proved 4 star linemen do actually exist and live in Indiana. And if you recruit a 4 star lineman they are actually good enough to play and don’t need to redshirt.

I’m tired of hearing the woe is me that 4/5 star linemen are very few in number. There are as many 4 star lineman as there are 4 star QBs. If Purdue can recruit a 4 star qb, then by golly they could recruit 4 star linemen.

But the reality is the last three Purdue coaches didn’t bother even trying to recruit 4/5 star offensive linemen!!! Just look at the recruiting sites and do a search. And look at how many 4/5 star linemen Purdue have offers to!!!! In order to get a 4 star lineman to sign and commit to Purdue, you first have to show an interest and give them an offer! Just take 5 minutes and look and see how few 4/5 star offensive linemen Hazell, Brohm and Walters gave offers to.

And then look at teams like IU and Iowa! There was a lot of available 4/5 star in Indiana. They all didn’t go to OSU and Alabama and Notre Dame. Purdue should have been their choice rather than Iowa!

If you follow Iowa football, they make offensive linemen a priority. As does UW. Their starting QB is traditionally only 3 star. But as a team they win games because they win the battle of the trenches.

It nice to see a Purdue coach finally emphasizing placing a priority of recruiting linemen. Look at the recruits he brought with him. They were linemen and they were big! They don’t need those supplemental milk shakes!

It would be nice to watch Odom go after the home grown Indiana linemen and keep them instate and stop the Iowa pipeline!

And for that bozo who keeps posting I thought you said you were never going to post again, this is why I return. Posters here either have no reading comprehension or they constantly mistake my previous posts in an attempt to misrepresent my posts.

If Purdue placed an emphasis on recruiting elite offensive linemen they would come. And Purdue would be a much better team if they stopped going after so many 4/5 star QBs and started making landing 4/5 star linemen their priority! Look at Iowa and UW. Look at 5 years of their recruiting. And who are their best recruits? And then look at their record.

Winning the battle of the trenches. May result in low scoring , boring games, but it produces wins. And if you looked at IU this year, it was wins that got them in the playoffs not gaudy offensive stats! In the end, it’s WINS that get you in bowl games. And it’s the trenches that produce wins. Not 4/5 star QBs.
