Greetings from Iowa City! I drove in on this. Not really. But this is the most Iowa football fan thing ever.

Looks like it's gonna be a nice day to play some grid. Today is Iowa's homecoming.

Purdue won its last trip to Kinnick it what is affectionatley remembered as the "Anthony Mahoungou" game. The Boilers also won last season in Ross-Ade. So, Jeff Brohm is 2-0 vs. Kirk Ferentz.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. Get turnovers. Purdue has done a good job the last two weeks, winning the turnover battle at Penn State (3 to 1) and vs. Maryland (2 to 1). The Boilermakers need to keep it up vs. Iowa. Hawkeye QB Nate Stanley has shown the last two weeks that if he’s pressured, he’ll turn it over. He has thrown four picks the last two weeks.

2. Vertical passes. Purdue fans will recall the Boilers’ last visit to Iowa City in 2017, when Purdue shocked Iowa. The key: Big passes down field from Elijah Sindelar to Anthony Mahoungou. The Boilermakers need to dial up their vertical game again vs. a Hawkeye defense that likes to keep things in front of it.

3. Be aggressive. Especially on defense. That has been the key to the Boilermaker defense allowing just three TDs in the last six quarters. Iowa will want to establish the run. Purdue must mute it with an attacking scheme. If Iowa can run, it could be a long day for the Boilermakers.

Picks to click

Offense: TE Brycen Hopkins. He found his groove last week, catching a career-high 10 passes for 140 yards. Look for him to keep it rolling.

Defense: E Derrick Barnes. He has had a quietly successful season. In fact, he has been the most underrated player on the Boilermakers defense. Look for a few big plays from the burly junior.

What are your thoughts on the game?
