On the drive home from Louisville, KY last night, I had a chance to reflect on the season. I was beyond sad last night but
I am proud of our Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors. Thank you to Jon and Neal on great leadership and being such solid young men. I did not know that Raphael was ill last night - and I appreciate his effort. I thought throughout the season the young guys really came together. I hoped this would be a special season - with the talent and the chemistry that we had. I also appreciate the toughness that the team played with (most of the time.) It reminded me of traditional Purdue teams.
I also enjoy watching young men of good character and who display good citizenship. Thanks to CMP for bringing back quality student/athletes. When, I think about our young men who go to class and have to earn grades and work hard in their studies and then compare them to Calipari's one and done athletes - it is not a level playing field. I've read in the past that Kentucky's athletes don't even go to class second semester before they work out for the pros. I appreciate Purdue athletic department and the academic administration who do it the right way. It seems that the NCAA should do something about the Kentucky's.
I hope that A.J. will stay with his teammates another year and get his degree. I have really enjoyed watching these men grow and develop their skills. I want to thank them for their perseverance and dedication to their studies and to our University.
I am looking forward to seeing Ryan Cline and Grant Weatherford next year and how they blend with our team. I also hope that "Biggie" looks for a good family atmosphere and chooses to become a Boilermaker! Boiler UP!
